PeterNorth09
Even if the Jets draft a qb in the first round, they're still gonna need a veteran. Here is my ranking of free agent qb's and guys who will probably get cut. 1. Chris Simms (Restricted, so besically he's staying with Tampa) 2. Drew Brees (Yes, I know his shoulder is injured too) 3. Steve McNair (Seriously doubt Titans will pay him the $50 million bonus) 4. Kerry Collins (Oak is $20 mil over the cap and going after Culpeper) 5. Aaron Brooks (No way Saints aren't cutting him) 6. Billy Volek (like McNair is also due a big bonus plus Tenn is drafting qb) 7. Brian Griese (due a big bonus and TB has Simms) 8. Jon Kitna 9. Josh McCown 10. Quincy Carter (hey remember that guy?) As you see, it is slim pickings but the Jets have to get someone.
CrazyCarl40
I honestly do not think Chris Simms has done anything to warrant the compensation that we would have to give. Management can't release/cut Penny and give money to Drew Brees, it's hypocritical. McNair, Brooks, and Collins would all be retreads. Volek if released is worth giving a look at. Griese and Kitna are too old for a rebuilding team. McCown and Carter are no better than Bolly at this point. I know everyone also thinks Ramsey or Harrington are good ideas, although Ramsey you'd have to trade for and I'm not completely clued into the Detroit FO, of course I don't think Detroit's FO is in tuned with Detroit's FO either. The pickings are very slim and so is this draft in terms of QBs. I would rather bring Penny back to see if he has something left than to bring in a rookie with a huge SB or a Vet that adds to our cap woes. AFJF
Volek if released is worth giving a look at . Has there been any talk of this happening? Why in the world would the Titans release a young QB with a strong arm who has played great when given the opportunity. I dont think Tenn would trade him for less than a second rounder, why speculate on his release? If he were released he's clearly the #1 choice. AFJF
McNair is due a gigantic roster bonus-if they intend to draft Young as reported he will be the one to go Mcnair is supposedly willing to work his contract to stay and Fisher said that he thinks the guy has two to three good years left in him...I just dont see it. faba
If so he goes via trade IMO, no way you release a good young QB and get nothing in return. Hell, even Bradway would demand a 6th rounder for a promising young QB. I did not mean to state Volek will be released-if anything McNair will go and they will take the hit with him

McCown and Carter are no better than Bolly at this point. Who was a bigger retread than Vinny Testaverde in 1998? I don't see logically how just because a guy has played before we shouldn't give him a chance. At least you know you're getting something. Also, Brooks Bollinger sucks. McCown and Carter are definitely better than him.

Traded I can understand, it was the "cut" thing that jumped out at me. If that were to happen I would be SHOCKED!!!!!!
jets rooter
my choice would be griese.I liked him when he was starting for tampa bay.before he got hurt he was playing great.
