The 49ers behind the Panthers and Lions?

Wat?

The 49ers are being punished by their division.  They're very much a playoff-caliber team and are the defending NFC champs, but are a good bet to finish 4th.  The top 3 teams in the division all have 5 wins apiece already.  It's insane.

But having said that, the Lions being above them makes no sense.  But the Panthers do.  They've been more than holding serve while their best player has been hurt.  He returns to the field as soon as this Thursday.  They're legit.

I hate being this right. It's happening far too often lately.... which says more about the Jets, than me.

The third playoff spot means they can still finish last and qualify for the playoffs. They're ahead of both Detroit and Carolina who'll not be winning their divisions either.

They're coming off two big wins with their starting QB finally looking healthy. Definitely not to be written off.

Fair enough.  I just think there's going to be so much cannibalism in the NFC West that it'll be very tough for 3 Wild Cards to come out of it.  It would be incredibly impressive, that's for sure.

The cannibalism is being offset by them playing the NFC East lol.
