Complete the Jets 2022 Starting Team

If the Jets lose their way to the #1 pick in the Draft - Lawrence - they will be setup for success like no other time in my lifetime. Assuming they trade Sam Darnold for a first round or even second round pick, they will have (in addition to Lawrence) 9 players selected in the first 3 rounds of the 2021 and 2022 Drafts.  I am not as much of a draft-nik as other here and I was wondering what the starting team might look like in the 2022 season. Assigning the picks to positions and keeping current players, the 2022 Roster can look something like this. I was hoping that some here could insert players (feel free to switch the picks to other positions)  where I have draft picks so we can come to realize how well set up the Jets are for success. Heck, even if you believe the Jets will not land the first overall pick and will keep Darnold, put Darnold in at QB and substitute the Darnold draft pick I've assigned to C for the Jets 2021 first round pick:

QB - Lawrence (2021 first round pick)

LT - Becton

LG - Clark

C - 2021 late first/or second round pick from Darnold Trade

RG - McGovern (or a 4th round pick or free agent if he sucks at G like he does at C)

RT - 2021 second round pick

TE - 2021 3d round pick

WR- Crawford

WR - Mims

WR - 2021 first round pick from Seattle

RB - 2021 3d round pick from Seattle

DE - Q

NT - Fatukasi

DE - Franklin-Myers

OLB -  Huff/Zuniga

ILB - 2022 first round pick from Seattle

ILB - 2022 third round pick

OLB - 2022 first round pick

CB - Bryce Hall

CB - 2022 second round pick

S -Maye

Nice! You went 4-3. The potential for improvement over the next 2 drafts is through the roof.

This is less than what I think the Jets WILL do and more what I would do. My only big name FAs are Thuney and Fuller. The Jets also bring back Poole, Maye and Hewitt. Herndon is a FA in 2022 so I have him still on the team as a re-sign. I actually think with Lawrence and a new coach he can turn things around and realize his potential.

QB - Lawrence (2021 first round pick), Morgan as backup

RB - N. Harris (2021 2nd round pick), Perine

LT - Becton

LG - Clark/Alijah Vera-Tucker (2021 4th Round pick)

C - Josh Myers (2021 3rd round pick- Seattle)

RG - J.Thuney (FA Signing 2021)

RT - Cosmi (2021 1st round pick- Seattle)

TE - Herndon (2022 draft pick as backup)

WR- Will Fuller (2021 FA)

WR - Mims

WR -Seth Williams (2021 3rd round pick- Jets)

DE - Q

NT - Fatukasi

DE - Franklin-Myers

OLB/Edge-  Huff/Zuniga

ILB - CJ Mosley

ILB - Peanut/Hewitt (resigned in 2021) , 2022 draft pick as backup.

OLB/Edge - High draft pick 2022- Rd. 1 or 2.

CB - Bryce Hall

CB - Austin

CB- Poole (resigned in 2021)

CB- High draft pick 2022- Rd. 1 or 2.

S - Maye (re-signed in 2021)

S - Davis

I'm going off script just to be different but also because Im honestly starting to lean this way and think the Jets should really consider it if possible.

Sign Jameis Wintson

Trade the #1 overall for a haul.  I dont have the team or the perfect capital to make this super duper realistic so lets just say they trade with the Falcons who give them 2 #1's and 2 #'2's and are picking 8.

QB - Jameis Winston

RB - Najee Harris (2.8), Perrine, Kenny Gainwell (4th)

OL - Becton - Wyatt Davis (1.22) - Creed Humphry (2.22) - Zion Johnson (4.8) - Fant

WR - Jamar Chase (1.8), Denzel Mims, J. Crowder, Trevor Grimes (3.8)

TE - Brevin Jordan (3.22), Herndon, Griffin

Defense?  Who gives a ****.  We are scoring 35+ a game with offense.  Throw some dudes out there and lets roll.

QB 1 - Trevor Lawrence (NYJ 1 2021)

RB1- Najee Harris (NYJ 2 2021)/  Perine

LT - Mehki Becton

LG - Cam Clark

C - Tyler Linderbaum (NYJ 4 2021)

RG - Joe Thuney (FA 2021)

RT - George Fant

TE - Charlie Kolar (NYJ 5 2021)

WR1 - Allen Robinson (FA 2021)

WR2 - Denzel Mims

Slot - Jamison Crowder (Extended 2021)

IDL1 - Quinnen Williams

IDL2- Foley Fatukasi

IDL3 - John Franklin-Meyers

EDGE1 - Joseph Ossai (Sea 1 2021)

EDGE 2 - Bryce Huff

LB1- Cameron McGrone (Sea 3 2021)

LB2 - FA pick up or Blake Cashman

CB1 - Chidobe Awuzie (FA 2021)

CB2 - Bryce Hall

Nickel - Brian Poole (Re-signed 2021)

S - Marcus Maye

S - Ashtyn Davis

The only premium picks I did not include in the starting lineup are NYJ 3 this year, and NYJ 1, SEA 1, NYJ 2 and NYJ 3 all in 2022. It's too far away for now.

However, in my mind NYJ 3 is Tylan Wallace, WR OSU

Hilarious, I almost did the same thing but with Dak Prescott.

I thought about Dak but even with the injury, you have to imagine that's a high price tag.  Jameis will come cheaper but I'm not saying it has to be Jameis but more so, this is the approach I think I'd take on 11/17/2020.  I know the next flashy thing at QB is all the rave (I have Justin Fields in a Jets jersey in my Avatar, lmfao) but deep down inside I know without a shadow of a doubt the Jets will get it wrong by either picking the worse of the 2 players (TL, Fields) and/or them not doing anything to help develop the kid.  So, give the guy who's proven he can do it, has faced some adversity, got put back in his place but while doing so got the chance to learn from Drew Brees and Sean Payton and threw 5k and 33 TD's a year ago under Arians.....and just absolutely load the **** up so that anyone who comes in at QB can find immediate success.

All that said, it's much easier to take this approach when you're not sold on TL being this cant miss prospect.
