  1. 1. Should the NY Jets hire Jim Harbaugh as HC

Yup. He's starting to rise to the top of my list.

Certain personalities can win in NY. He's one of them. He's the jolt this franchise needs. I understand his under achievements at Michigan but I think it's one of those situations where he's better suited to be an NFL coach as opposed to College. The work he did with Alex Smith and Kaepernick at the NFL level can't be overlooked. I don't put much stock into what happened at Michigan when it comes to how he would fare in a return to the pros.

at this point, assuming gase is launched, the jets need a coach with some instant credibility.  there just aren't that many formerly successful coaches that can come in an turn this team to respectability.  look at the trouble mccarthy is having down in dallas (before losing dak).  and that team is loaded with talent.  but then there's the whole aspect of going with a coach out of the nfl ranks.  flores is doing a good job with the doltfins.  so are vrable, mcdermott, mcavay, shanahan jr.  how are the former college guys doing?  kingsbury is doing pretty well.  rhule is doing okay.  another aspect is how any new coach will be compatible with the players douglas is acquiring.  many of the vets will be rotated away on short term contracts but the current rookie and first and second year players will be the guys any new coach will need to evaluate and use.

He's an NFL coach, IMO.

He also did very well in his only NFL HC job.

My only issue with Harbaugh is that I wouldn't trust him to be here long term. I get the impression that he's a guy who wears people out after awhile.

His personality did him no favors in the pros, either, as he wore out his welcome in SF despite all his success.  Though I don't think he became unpopular with his players, however, but rather with ownership.

I doubt Douglas wants to have to deal with Harbaugh on roster decisions.

We're probably headed for another boring hire which is fine as long as they report to Douglas.  This has to be his mess to fix.

I've been agreeing with a lot of your posts lately, and it's weirding me out.

It is feeling like the Jets need a Parcells-moment to get out of this garbage. A culture changer and leader. A pumped up coordinator could be that guy but Harbaugh is that guy. Harbaugh also gets your some instant street cred with FAs. Yes, yes build through the draft but the Jets are a bottom-3 destination for players to re-sign or sign here, when they have other options.

Let's not pretend Jim Harbaugh wouldn't be the best coach for the Jets since Bill Parcells.

He would be.  However, he has an NFL shelf life of four years.  I'm fine with that because it would be a solid four years which this team desperately needs.

and his coaching style wears on grown men

Lol to the person who’s confused please read the comments on this video ?????

You asked me what he's done. I answered, and you didn't like the facts I gave you. You now are taking the position he's done "nothing" because he hasn't won a single national championship at Michigan. Give me a break. I guess you'll only approve interviewing coaches from the college ranks who won a national championship. That seems like a narrow and SIMPLE MINDED way of thinking.

Laugh all you want, but the fact is there isn't a viable candidate out there who would bring instant credibility to the Jets franchise like hiring Jim Harbaugh would. I'm curious, you're bashing others for wanting Jim Harbaugh, but who is the guy you want? He must have a national championship under his belt based on you thinking Jim Harbaugh is "trash" because he hasn't won a national championship at Michigan.

Harbaugh is in the same division as Ohio State.  The fact that Harbaugh hasn’t won a national championship there yet is not an indictment on him

That's ridiculous.  He's had ample opportunities to beat Ohio St. and get to the college football playoff but continues to fail miserably.

How many former Jets coaches are you allowing to use that excuse because the Pats have been so dominant?

Michigan was a program that had fallen before Harbaugh came there. You act like he took something that was good and made it worse.

And that’s college football.  It’s a different world with a different skill set for coaches to use to win.  If college success translated to NFL success Nick Saban wouldn’t have washed out with the dolphins after one year.  Ditto for Steve Spurrier, Butch Davis etc

Fun Fact: only 1 Head Coach has ever won both a Super Bowl and College Football Championship

What is the obsession with coordinators who don't have success on the side of the ball they're supposed to be good at?

?? This dude turned some jag from wyoming who completed 55% of his passes into a top 10 nfl qb.

Ill take a shot on that

Yes.  He was excellent as the 49ers coach, turning them from bottom-feeders to annual contenders.

The main arguments against him seem to be that he's abrasive, and probably wouldn't stick around for more than 5 years.

Personally, I can live with an abrasive coach who brings success, even for a limited period, to a team that hasn't had any success for a decade.

Parcells didn't stick around long, but he totally turned around the team and raised expectations for the franchise.  Harbaugh could do something similar.

not to mention but the last time we were any good was with an abrassive guy known as REX....not sure we could get him but he woudl be the most qualified coach we have had since Parcels. its not even close.

yeah lets not pretend ownership forced him out of SF, he did a great job with the crap players he was given, literally making up the system as he went.. he did a terrific job there. And just because he was no nonsense and has been given this aura of rubbing peopel the wrong way, dont buy it. You need someone like him to right the ship.

Harbaugh had the Niners looking scary good early on. If we can get him, bring him in. Whats our alternative? The baldy that got canned at the Falcons, Todd Bowel Movement, Big mouth in Carolina, the loser in Dallas. We only look at bums. So lets look at someone who is slightly less of a bum.

Yeah, I don't know enough about whether his system or tactics or whatever is a fit but this team is on the edge of a cliff culture wise and need a strong man to drag them back away from it.

Forget about tOSU, they're light years ahead of Michigan talent wise. Can someone explain why Michigan is 3-3 vs MSU in Harbaugh's tenure - INCLUDING 0-3 at the Big House?

This guy is NOT what you think he is. If he came to the Jets you'd have people calling for his head by year 2.
