NY Jets trade Avery Williamson to the Steelers: MERGED

Recommended Posts

Good for him.  Enjoy being part of a real NFL team and organization, not this sh*t show.  Now go grab a Primanti's and cool out.

Yep, another solid done by JD to some of the veterans who now get to play on better teams with chances for playoffs.

My only hope is he's working the phones to get AG the hell out of here also, but I'm guessing we'll just have to release him at the end of the season.

This is how GMs get respect in this league. Trading players to winning teams n stacking draft picks. We'll done JD.

The verdict will be decided by the draft pick.

JD has lost his mind...

even IF Trevor comes here we literally will have nothing to surround him with.

This is madness

You do realize that Avery Williamson was leaving after this season right? You do realize Avery Williamson plays MLB and has nothing to do with Trevor Lawrence’s development... don’t you?

Did you watch some of the catches Allen Robinson made yesterday? He'd be a nice target. We have picks, we have some dough, and we have a guy that won't overpay for guys at the end of their careers with long term contracts.

Keep losing baby!!!

have always loved Robinson ... tough sell to get him here with a GM who isn't willing to overpay though

Too Dangerous to trade him right now. Just wait until the offseason. His value isn't great now anyhow.

Not really what is he doing to help this team win games.

We have 3 other QB's on the roster.

If JD has the guts he will trade him now.

Dallas needs a QB today.

Not willing to overpay last year =/= not willing to overpay this year

Hopefully. :-)

JD is trading our roster away for 6th round picks in infinity and beyond.

Does this guy actually have a plan.

One reason with all of the 2022 picks being traded and not 2021 is with a reduction in cap space next year likely, a lot of teams are going to hold onto mid to late round picks next year to be able to fill out the bottom of their rosters.  1 pick in each round from 4-7 takes about $1.8 million in cap space. That can save you around $2-$3 million if you don't have to spend on veterans to fill in those spots on the 53.

Also,  I believe there will be a lot of quality veterans on the trade market before FA next year in order for teams to be able to cut money to get under the cap.  Those extra late round picks are trade assets in those scenarios without dipping into their own picks in 2021.

Get yer' overpaid FA's here.  Get yer overpaid players.  While they're hot!

I just had a childhood flashback from Shea: "GET YOUR PEANUTS HERE! HOTDOGS HERE!" And then an old guy would ching out the coins in the dispenser around his waist and take a wad of singles out his apron to give you your change and scowl at you. Oh, and practically throw your bag of peanuts at you. Geez Loise, those concession guys were sour and miserable. You'd think they were watching the game. : /

Speaking of throwing, I always got peanuts because the shells made good projectiles. "BOOOoooo!"

I think it’s going to be an extremely tough sell to get any talented player here in FA unless they’re chasing money that hard. Our overall team perception has went from trash to toxic trash that nobody wants to be around.

Allen Robinson,Ju-Ju Smith Schuster.

2021 QB Trevor Lawrence

2021 WR's Ju-Ju,Robinson,Mims,Crowder

2021 Rb's Etienne, Perine, Johnson

I like!

Don't forget to add a TE since we obviously have not and perhaps another rookie receiver; Crowder will probably be gone.  Especially if we are signing both Robinson and Smith.  We will have a ton of picks. Should take a WR/TE in rounds 2 - 5 depending on whos on the board.

He might over pay a bit for Robinson (might have to) but Allen is a stud with a lot left.

Well also because, if Williamson has a good second half, they'll recoup a compensatory 5th round pick in 2022 anyway. Jets had too much money to spend to bank on that happening here by keeping him.

That was some of the calculation Sea made for Richardson, probably figuring worst case they recover a 3rd rounder a draft later, after using him to put them over the top the current year. Didn't happen but they had to have been thinking it, at least in part.

There will be a ton of players re-signing before FA or restructuring their contract bc no player outside of stars are going to get any kind of money in FA next year. You'll see a bunch of contracts being either reduced or restructured. I would expect the Jets to bring back at least half of their UFA, which would be about 8 players, plus the other 8 players that are either ERFA or RFA. That brings the roster to 53. Throw in 10 draft picks to that number.  Plus FA, trades. They'll be fine.  They have to find a #1 WR and a QB. Everything else is secondary.

Yes, to accumulate draft picks. Why can't you grasp that? Why do you need someone to point out the obvious to you all the time?

It seems like you are either a troll or.....

Sure.

Would it be better to have kept him in an 0-8 season, or trade him for a potential asset?

Nope trade everyone but the outcome is decided by who is drafted with the pick.

Williamson is a free agent at the end of the season.
