They have successfully completed a rebuild and are now a contender. Chris Grier has a lot of similarities to JD. Both worked their way up the scouting ranks. (So did Macc and we know how that ended) But I have hopes for JD despite some FA whiffs this year. His trading savvy is outstanding. We don't know about the quality of his draft picks this early in but he is already better than what we have seen in prior years. Low bar to surpass but... Flores seems to me to have gone to Miami with exactly the coaching credentials we need. I know that a lot of bad-mediocre HC's come out of that profile. But a strong front office can cover a multitude of errors. If Bowles, for instance, had better personnel--could he have been a success.
