and there will be no one rooting harder for the Jets tomorrow then Trevor Lawrence lol

but if we lose the 1 pick we will prob trade down and get a kings ransom....may even trade down twice....so it wont all be bad

Not having a team is worse. Have we learned nothing?

That's what the other draft picks and the salary cap is for. You're not getting a big enough haul to justify trading Lawrence away for. If you can't find good players in free agency with the money you have PLUS Seattle's first round pick and every other pick in the rest of the draft, plus next year's draft, then you're ****ed anyway because your GM is terrible at his job.

Getting a difference maker as a FA practically never happens. Maybe a trade but you don't normally get a difference maker for nothing and we need difference makers. As far as the haul we will get for trading the pick, did you think it was possible to get what we did for Adams. Seattle clearly overpaid but it happens. If we can multiple first round picks, that will do much more than Lawrence can. We are not a QB away from competing. Can you imagine having 3 first round picks in 2022?

Charles Woodson and Randy Moss. All time greats.  It's like hitting powerball to get ONE of them. I'm still not trading Manning for them COMBINED.

Instead of two? Who are we trading with?
We're not two positions away from being competitive either. Let's say for argument's sake that he's Peyton Manning. Can you go back and look at that draft and subsequent drafts and find the players that are worth Peyton Manning in a trade? You might find a couple that if you combine them, MAYBE, but you'll find many more jags and outright busts.

Boy I swear people here love picks ........but we have no history of doing anything with them.

If the Jets draft 2nd they're suddenly looking at a WR or other position.

Just to clarify today's news:

-95% of college quarterbacks lock on their first read in progressions. Right now, for the majority of these college qb's, their major decisions come in RPO situations. For me, it is indistinguishable in my short view of watching Fields and Lawrence whether they actually have to go through progressions. Their offensive design, along with the world class athletes that surround them, often makes their first target fairly open.

I have seen both of them have to move off that primary, but is not a constant progression. That is really next level stuff.

-2 of the 3 interceptions for Fields yesterday was him trying to do too much. He just was trying to make a play when there was none. He should have just eaten the ball and taken the sack. That is on him though, and it was a chink in the armor exposed yesterday. Credit Indiana for getting in his face yesterday. This is how young qb's learn. Or, it shows faults. Again, this was not a reading defense problem yesterday.

What Fields did continue to show yesterday was tremendous accuracy on his ball, and just amazing athletic ability. Both QB's have that ability.

It is constant evaluation. They are both very intriguing. As mentioned here, the knee jerk responses to individual games and particularly plays gets tiresome. Part of the process for all of us genius evaluators.

I imagine it would be nice for you to see others having childlike meltdowns for a change.

Meltdowns are part of why we are all here.  This is a "message board" after all, and what more exciting way to deliver a message than by epic meltdown?  Weren't you at the center of one of the most epic meltdowns over on that other, now-extinct, message board?  re: GJ&H

Charles Woodson and Randy Moss. All time greats.  It's like hitting powerball to get ONE of them. I'm still not trading Manning for them COMBINED.

Peyton did not walk into this train wreck we have on the Jets and he was horrible if first season. Manning holds the interception record. The thing is he had Reggie Wayne and Marshall Falk when he arrived. Who is Reggie Wayne and Falk on the Jets. Who is even close? And if you are not getting a 2022 first, you pass

And how do you figure we're getting a QB without the draft?

Lots of difference makers can be found in FA.

They didn't draft Wayne until 2001 and Faulk was only there for Manning's one bad season. This is legitimately the worst weppinz argument anybody has come up with yet.

Only one I have see recently is Tua...he's the best rookie at reading defences and finding the open guy.

You can't wait for Marvin Harrison and Marshall Falk to arrive to take the QB. You might never GET that chance again. QB is priority.

Can you imagine if Lawrence lives up to the hype and goes on to a Hall of Fame career and we passed on him because we wanted more late first round and second round draft picks?

Not having a QB is always bad Kevin.
Darnold isn't as bad as people make him out to be even if he is not elite if you built a team around him he can be good enough to win games. It is a shame that gase has done such a terrible job developing the kid and it's a shame that even our revamped offensive line outside of becton who has been on and off the field all season has been terrible but there are worse positions we could be in than going into next season with Sam darnold starting. I know alot of people don't want to hear it but it's the truth.

You can't wait for Reggie Wayne and Marshall Falk to arrive to take the QB. You might never GET that chance again.

No GM is going to think like that anyway.  If an Elway/Peyton level QB is available at your draft position (1.01), there's no way they pass that up (unless the guy won't play for your team, but that's a different issue).
