Hold my Beer Jamaal Adams is the biggest bust in Jets history

Recommended Posts

He is certainly the most overrated player in my history of my cheering for the jets far as the accolades and attention he got vs what he actually brought to the table.

Just 15 years ago, the Jets selected a Kicker in the 2nd round. And, it was their first selection in the draft.

I don't remember seeing Patrick Mahomes being mocked anywhere near the top 1 or 2 or 3 overall picks or let alone top 6.... As was Jamal Adams.

etc etc and that's probably because Patrick Mahomes was nothing more than a career loser coming out of college who became blessed, fortunate and downright lucky to become drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs (already a winning Football team) along with Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Travis Kelce, an A+ offensive line and Andy Reid; already there.

Stop acting and pretending as if he got drafted into a NY Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns and/or Jacksonville Jaguars type of absolute crap situation as a way of slighting Jamal Adams; because he didn't (he got drafted into the complete opposite).

It was a bad pick considering who we passed up, but Hackenberg forced the issue

Hack was bad but also made worse because Maccagnan basically refused to believe the guy was a bust and that dictated the later drafts.

That time we picked the hall of famer was certainly one of the worst jet moments i can recall.

Yes he did.

Aaron Rodgers?  Not really a GOAT candidate (though certainly a HOFer and one of the 15 or so greatest ever) and the franchise wasn't realistically in the market for a QB at the time, unfortunately.  I can't stand Chad Pennington but he was a much better QB at the time than the Jets had on the roster in 2017.

You can't be considered a bust after being selected to an All-Rookie team, 2 Pro Bowl selections and 2 All-Pro selections (first 1st-team All-Pro since Revis) before netting us a Khalil Mack type of HAUL in return for his on field greatness as a Jet (throughout only 3 seasons of play).

And can anyone please post me a mock draft of any NFL draft expert mocking Patrick Mahomes as a top 6 pick? Nope. You can't.

And once the Jets draft Trevor Lawrence?

With our two first round picks from Seattle (2021 and 2022) along with our 3rd round pick from Seattle (2021)?

Just like fans blame Adams for not drafting Mahomes?

Those same Jet fans will then become forced to give Jamal credit for our 3 future players we're going to receive for Jamal (because it doesn't work, both ways).

I'm going to enjoy it.

Too bad the likes of Sam Darnold and Marcus Maye can't net us a Khalil Mack type of haul featuring two 1st round picks + another premium 3rd rounder...

You thought drafting Morgan in the 4th rd was criminal then taking Jamal over Mahomes should get the death penalty..

Jamal is overrated - but nah.

Also, at least we cashed in on him and got two firsts and a 3rd.

Try getting two firsts and a third for Gholston.

@Lupz27 I'll give it to you man. You called that.. That's a thread you'll always be able to be proud of. I respect that.

What are your overall thoughts on Trevor Lawrence?

Patrick Mahomes: 32 games, 857/1,349 (63.5%), 11,252 passing yards (351.6 yards per game), 8.3 yards per pass attempt, 93 TD's/29 INT's (3.20 TD-to-INT Ratio), 308 rushing attempts for 845 rushing yards (2.7 yards per carry) and 22 rushing TD's; QB Rating of 152.0.

Trevor Lawrence: 36 games, 662/995 (66.5%), 8,778 passing yards (243.8 yards per game), 8.8 yards per pass attempt, 83 TD's/14 INT's (5.92 TD-to-INT Ratio), 192 rushing attempts for 811 rushing yards (4.2 yards per carry) and 14 rushing TD's; QB Rating of 165.4.

Even though I'm not a big PFF guy (however, they did rank Patrick Mahomes as the #1 graded QB coming out) so I'll include this (below);

Pro Football Focus ranked the nation's QB situations through 11 weeks of action and Clemson and its QB1 Trevor Lawrence tops the list.

"After earning PFF grades above 90.0 as a true freshman and sophomore — something only he has done in the PFF College era — Lawrence is on pace to post another elite grade for his third and likely final season at Clemson," PFF's Anthony Treash writes. "In six starts, Lawrence has a 91.3 PFF grade and has been one of college football’s best downfield passers week in and week out. He has thrown over 66% of his passes more than 10 yards downfield accurately --- the second-best mark in the country".

Well, Adams is in Seattle now, the Chiefs of the NFC. How’s that working out for that D?

This is silly. By this same logic everyone drafted ahead of Brady in 2000 are among the biggest busts in history.

Adams was a good player. If the draft were to happen again he's still going top 10, maybe top 5 and that was a good draft.

The disaster was not targeting a QB because we had the worst QB to ever grace an NFL roster.

Honestly my days of letting football consume me are over so I don’t have any real educational thoughts on the matter, if I said one way or the other I’d just be blowing smoke.

He didn't do a lot for me in the past either.  A couple fan-voted Pro Bowls, a bunch of twitter followers and a mascot tackle don't move the needle.

Good player at an unimportant position.  Not a future HOFer.  Not even close.  He's an undersized ILB who can't stay healthy, and he lacks athleticism.  A long, successful career is not in the cards for Jamal Adams.

May not be the biggest bust. But by far the worst pick.
