Perine and Ficken to IR

Recommended Posts

Ficken clearly wasn't right on Sunday, and Castillo has done very well.

Intrigued to see what Travis can do - a former college hoops player, with good athletic ability.

I would've preferred to have Ficken missing kicks for the rest of the season.

Yes his 55 carries  202 yards 2 TD's easily replaced.

Obviously didn't get the playing time he deserved over Frank Gore.

I could be wrong but I believe that designated to return type of IR is only early season or maybe only preseason?

I think you are wrong.  I think the 3 week IR is a 2020 only/Covid thing.  I'm just wondering why SAR is so worried about Ficken returning?

Perine has just been part of the injury bug crowd unfortunately. Check the dudes highlights, he can ball.

Mims looks like a better player than I thought it would be. Was pretty impressed.

Yes go back to the other kicker cuz Ficken looks like Ichabod Crane.

 I can't like him.

Bills Powell averaged 1.6 yards per carry his rookie year.

I wasn't talking about his rookie season Perine replaced Powell this season.

Wrong.

Powell played 2 games his first season and his stat line was...

13 for 21 yards at 1.62 a carry and 0 TDs

So Perine is already ahead of where Powell was at this point.

...

Comparing close sample sizes, take Powell's second season (15 games)

Stats were..

110 for 437 yards at 3.97 a carry and 4 TDs

Now compare Perine with half the games (8 games)

55 for 202 yards at 3.67 a carry and 2 TDs

Those are very comparable stats.

...

I pretty much despise Joe Douglas' first draft class and haven't been too shy about it.

That being said, I'm willing to wait and see what LaMical Perine can do outside of eight/nine games as the second/third string back behind Frank Gore and handcuffed by Adam Gase.

Yes exactly and he keeps getting hurt just like Powell did, who was an unsung hero in a lot of damn games.

I think we need a big Bruiser at running back to compliment Perine.

He hasn't played poorly I think the coaches are just sprinkling him in. It sucks that so many guys in the league are catching injuries right now.

What I like about him is that he seems to just get things done. Not special in any specific area, and I hate the cliche but he's just a football player. Tough, gritty, determined... yeah I'll take that guy every time.

I would prefer Etienne or Harris in the 2021 NFL Draft

Not worried about Ficken being out, worried that Perine may never return.

Honestly, I feel for the two young guys, but in another regard I am happy. This means Frank Gore gets more touches. More touches that he rightfully deserves. His young legs will carry us to victory.

@Joe Douglas:  3-year extension + draft Frank Gore Jr, please.

Just curious, who were you hoping our 1st 2 picks were??

I was hoping WR then Offensive line.

If you cared at all about facts you’d mention how Perine’s rookie year is already better than Powell’s rookie year because Powell couldn’t get on the field.

I was fine with the positional choices. I wanted Wirfs pretty bad in the first. Couple different guys in the second, but before the trade back.

I just think his draft was very lackluster overall.

Becton is good but needs to stay healthy to prove worth it. Mims seems ok but need more sample size. Everyone else seems sub par so far.
