Post Your Mock

Recommended Posts

Now that we have an idea of the D and O schemes for 2021 we can Mock trying to target personnel that fit the scheme. For the D an in the Box Safety, Zone coverage and fast LBs. For the O outside Zone blocking run game with RB by committee that uses the RB with the hot hand, quick read passes and reliance on the TE. We can now Mock with this in mind. *Traded back with Cincy, but I doubt they would also include the 2022 picks to move up 3 spots.

Joe Douglas Trade Back Special. Traded #2 to Cincy for 5, 38, 69 and 2022 first round; Flipped # 5 to Detroit for 7 and 41; then sent #7 to Carolina for 8 and 73.  Frankly, the Cincy deal seemed unrealistic since they were moving up only 3 space to pick a T and many evaluators seem to be concluding that the gap between Sewell and Slater may not be as large as once imagine. But, hey, I would have made the trade even with a 2022 second round pick.

Anyway, ended up with 9 in the top 100 and still picking in the top 10, with a total of 15 players. Now, that is a fresh start! I put notes below next to each selection because I realize people might not be familiar with the players even though they've seen their names thrown around on mock drafts.

I really hope we can trade down for once, in all of my trade down mocks, some just once, others twice I come away with one or two 2022 1st rounders plus and end up happy with  my draft and happy with the player I take in the 1st round.

Some of those programs offer more than is realistic in the way of future draft pick comp. It makes sense when they are trading up for a QB or one of the top WRs, but I don't see it with the other positions.

trade down options were limited but I ended up having a ton of mid round picks and gained some more for next year.

Focused on zone corners, 4-3 edge players, fast lbs and added some offensive talent to fit our outside zone and west coast prinicipals

I think some will be critical of me not adding a top of the line WR but i do think the jets will address this in FA so adding quality depth with upside i think is important.  Both moore and darden are on the smaller end of WR's and profile as slot guys, but with mims in the picture, pitts who is a big body, and some of the bigger WR's in FA i felt adding quality explosive players that can win in the slot and be deadly on motion from bootlegs was enticing.

This draft is somewhat unrealistic obviously beause i was able to add really front line talent in the mid rounds but my picks i was most excited to get were moses and surratt.  Both would really help the LB core of this team, quicker LB's with plus athletic ability and off the charts football IQ. Surrat is really interesting because he was a QB at unc before moving to LB.

Overall I think this was a really good draft to build up a base of talent, with possible high end players coming out of it, and adding another 1+2 next year.

Also, I really feel like the Jets need an effective KR/PR.

I traded down twice, with cincy then again to carolina.  I think the jets will look to trade down twice also, that trade down was ideal as I was targetting Pitts with the first pick to fit Kittles role in this offense.  I think two athletic TE's with Pitts and Herndon will do a lot for this offense.   I was hoping to add a FB but i really think Wesco is going to fill that role for us.

I'm a big fan of Darden,  he had a monster year for UNT this year and is a very good return man.  Dynmaic talent.  I met his trainer a few years back through some people I talk to and he has been hyping him up to me all year.  I think he can be an asset on offense as you can move him around quite a bit, he's mainly a slot guy but you can line him up in the backfield, slot, and maybe even outside here or there.  His quick twitch is insane, he gets in and out of breaks so easily and can accelerate to top speed fast while stopping on a dime afterwards.  Only issue is he basically fills the same role as berrios in this offense, but I think will time faster and is more twitchy in my eyes.  however berrios is certianly a much thicker build.  Either way a late round flyer for a dynamic talent for the return game is good value in my eyes.

This draft fascinated me!  I know it is a pipe dream but Wow! If this offensive line came to Fruition, it would be like the Cowboys from the 90's. I also realize Pitts will not last until the second round.  If I knew Gainwell was going to be there in round 4 I would have gone a different direction with Javonte Williams.

2: R1 P2 OT Penei Sewell - Oregon
23: R1 P23 LB Micah Parsons - Penn State

Unrealistic 13 player draft but liked most of it.  Ended up getting the Eagle's 1st in 2022, 1st in 2023, and the Lion's 3rd in 2022.  Also, could possibly trade Darnold for a 2021 or 2022 pick.

QB: Wilson

RB: Harris

WR: Marshall, Felton (though listed as a HB)

TE: Long

OL: Vera-Tucker, Humphrey

EDGE: Perkins, Toney

CB: Surtain, Adebo

LB: Moses, Britt
