The Jets would get a ton of great offeres from other teams if Young fell to #4. I wouldn't be surprised if they traded it away if that occured. Tannenbaum, being the cap guy that he is, will probably see it as more reasonable to trade down from #4 if vince is there, not only b/c we need more good picks, but also because vince young is going to get a signing bonus the size of texas. edit **and for those of you who forget...ol' woody doesnt like giving out big signing bonuses right now**
vinnys025
We will be able to best answer these questions after 4pm on march 3rd. Then we will have a better idea who the Jets might draft.

GimmeShelter
Davis maybe... Millen? No chance in hell. I dunno Stormy. Nfl.com At a time when most teams are struggling to get under the NFL's salary cap, the Detroit Lions have just hit The Powerball. This week, maybe the most optimum week, the Lions were granted a preposterous $11.75 million salary-cap credit due to a playtime incentive that defensive tackle Shaun Rogers failed to reach last season. "Cap magic," one Lions official said, confirming the team's windfall. While other teams will be slashing and cutting, the Lions will be out spending. And one of the ways they now can use their newfound $11.75 million windfall is on free-agent quarterback Drew Brees, a quarterback that Detroit is expected to pursue. With a newfound $11.75 million, how can they not? Millen does deny that they are in the market for a starting QB though.
Witten_82
Plus hes like a marketing dream. Im sure someone will note that Vince Young would be comfortable with Roy Williams.

With a newfound $11.75 million, how can they not? Millen does deny that they are in the market for a starting QB though. Yeah, I know about the 11.75 million. It was a clause in Shaun Rogers' contract, stating if he played in 95% of the special teams snaps this season, he'd hit that 11.75 million dollar bonus. It was money they knew they had coming. Powerball bonus my left foot. And, do I really have to go into the reasons Millen won't draft a first round QB? Other than the fact that none of his first round picks have turned out, which all but two have been top ten picks. One of those picks was a QB, too. And, why would you go into a season with Cutler, Harrington, and Dan Orlovsky? And that much money tied up in one position? It doesn't make sense. The 11.75 million will be used to try and lure a marquee free agent here, that fits what Marinelli wants to do. Like Julian Peterson or Lions fans have been talking about John Abraham. Though... most of you would be insulted by the trade offers. They've mentioned all the marquee free agents who aren't running backs. The Lions will be in the market for a QB, and it wouldn't suprise me if they got Jon Kitna or try to trade for Matt Schaub or something.

Trading for Schaub would require parting with a high draft pick. Weren't you completely adamant and bordering on belligerent that the Lions were not going to use a draft pick on a quarterback? shutout
If VY is there at #4, Denny Green is gonna call. Imagine if this guy turns into the player many think he could become (I'm not one of them), and then teaming him up with Fitzgerald/Boldin. Denny Green will call, swap 1sts and give us a 2nd and something like a 5th/6th rounder. He'll take VY,we drop down to #10 and grab Lendale White or Cutler if Tennessee took D'Brick. And, technically, it's not drafting a QB, which is what I was saying. Schaub actually has that playing experience, and has been in the NFL. Unlike Jay Cutler, who is an unknown, and who you feel the Lions should take.

Trading a draft pick for a quarterback and actually drafting one is the exact same thing. And I never said the Lions should draft Cutler because I have never believed he would be available when the Lions pick.
