Just Toured The Detroit Lions Practice Facility

A friend of mine at the PD has a contact with the Lions who invited some of us down for a tour of the Lions training facility in Allen Park, MI just West of Detroit. Very impressive facility I must say. It was built about 5 years ago and they just completed their 4th year in it after moving down from Pontiac to Detroit. Apparently their conditions in Pontiac were deplorable to say the least. As the guy said, they put mirrors in the weight room to make it appear more spacious then it was. They barely had any facilities for meetings, interviews, the works. It was very very bad by all accounts.

As the Jets look to build a new practice facility, they should take a look at Detroit and learn some lessons. They did a good job with this one. Like anything else they wish they would have added a few other things like a lap pool, but they did well. For those interested here are some pics. Since it was 22 and we have 35 mph winds today, we didn't go outside. But out back, they have 3 full size football fields for outdoor practice.

To answer All your questions -

1) No Donut convention. But honestly what was funny is everywhere u went, training room, cafeteria, were boxes of Power bars, protein bars, snickers bars. Gatorade galore in weight room and cafeteria. Shake machines for protein shakes in the cafeteria and fruit everywhere. A lot of stuff, including pills to keep electrolytes up.

2. The goal post is missing it's post in the ground. (Posts are hung from the rafters)

thats pretty cool guns....did you bang out a few reps in the gym...thats a cool azz setup...

LOL - We were specifically instructed not to touch anything in the gym. Which is good, because my right shoulder is still so messed up bencing 135lbs in a room where 300 and 400 gets put up would be a disgrace
