Adam Gase Media Thread

Recommended Posts

Cimini: "Adam knows what's going to happen in 5 weeks.  They're going to change coaches"

Bart: [Regarding Gase finally taking some responsibility for not developing Sam] "Too little, too late!"

Bart: "It's your responsibility as the coach to take the slings and arrows and protect your players.  And so I think that's why the 'buy-in' wasn't as great, because he was a finger-pointer, not a thumb-pointer"

Yup, a lot of media types that were totally silent during the process or were like Manish who loved the hire at first then jumped on the band wagon once it failed.

+10000. Dennys grand slam breakfast is bomb. Don't you dare compare those two.

The best restaurant breakfast I ever had was when I was in Australia.  My brother and I had been beach fishing/camping for 4 or 5 days on Kangaroo Island and were waiting for a ferry to take us back to the mainland.  I think the name of the little town was Kings Cote.  The little restaurant we went into had this massive breakfast I forget what it was called I think it is named 'The Complete Breakfast"

Eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, toast, pancakes, lots of coffee and fried tomatoes.  It was the first time I ever had fried tomatoes with a breakfast and since then whenever i make a big breakfsat/brunch at home i add fried tomatoes.

Exactly, they had no issues early on.   Yup, no one, even those who didnt want him were silent and backed him in pretty much any issue that came up

Falsely reported as a heated argument, turns out that Alex Lewis has a personal medical problem.  Instead of playing hardball, Gase is understanding of his situation and will continue to pay him his salary even though the the Jets don't need to.

Gase is both fair and loyal to his players, the NFL and NCAA players know this too, one of the reasons he's coming back next season.

The problem is that being a "good" coordinator (whether or not you buy Gase being a good OC is irrelevant) has little bearing on being a good HC. Different jobs that require different skill sets.

Yup...

Where are all the people that were vocal that this was a terrible hire when it happened?  Not the sheep that are piling on now but accepted this hire when it happened.

I would like to see acknowledge the strong willed that KNEW is was ridiculous hire.  They’re the smart ones - the people we should listen to to going forward.

I did. I was living in coral sorings at the time.Heard all the stuff about his people problems, not to mention his failures as HC.

Look on the bright side.  The jets are replacing the coach early on.  Anyone want to go back to 5 seasons of Bowles?  How about 5 seasons of 8-8.what good is that?  At least going 0-16 gets in a much better drafting position and since the jets were bereft of talent before gase we can thank him for stocking a good talent level going forward.   No need to pile on a coach on the way out.

Bad coaches are far better than mediocre coaches. The mediocre ones are usually likable, okay in front of a microphone. They hang on for years with the fans of their football franchises; keeping them company through their youth or first divorce as that fan passes quietly into middle age.

Really bad coaches, those that manage to fool several franchises into hiring them like Kotite and Gase, are winners in life. Almost heros.

They make mountains of money for a terrible job performance, delivering a high draft pick following their departure... eventually forcing owners or GM's to make the tough decisions needed. Adam Gase is a reverse super hero.

So not only are you giving Gase credit for what JD does, now you are giving him credit for what Woody and CJ do. Can't  wait for the rules committee  meetings when you can give Gase credit for the Covid protocols  for next season.
