Popular Post slimjasi
Taking Becton was a no-brainer because there were clearly good WRs available in the 2nd round. There was no tackle like Becton available in round 2. 17

HawkeyeJet
If the Raiders used Ruggs like the Jets use Perriman, Ruggs would look a lot better currently. Ruggs to the Raiders is just a weird fit. Still don't get that pick.

Becton and Mims are the best 1st and 2nd round picks, respectively, that the Jets have made in 13 years. Pretty good start. 12 1
munchmemory
Knowing our history, probably would have turned Ruggs into a safety.

The Jets obviously get things wrong all the time, most notably hiring the worst GM in NFL history in Mike Maccagnan, and Douglas has made several mistakes already. Kindly GFY. 2
mrcoops
I loved Ruggs going into the draft too, but I would also have picked Mount Mekhi over him or any WR. Becton was 100% the right pick.

Deep draft at WR, so you trade down and wait and snag a good one still.

Icer
Seems like Douglas values upside with his premiere draft picks, rather than the safe BAP choice. I dig it, we saw where drafting Mel Kiper's Best Available led us to with Macc

Davante Adams was the same way.

It's about time the Jets got a little luck on their side. 3

It was a good gamble by his adding the extra draft capital and still getting his guy

I'd like to imagine Douglas was calm, cool and collected while waiting for his turn at 59. But its also possible he was a nervous, sweating mess hoping and praying no one took Mims. Maybe we'll never find out, lol.

If we picked Ruggs I would have insta-puked on my own shirt.
DoubleDown
More proof that Joe Douglas values elite metrics and measurables. I wasn't a big fan of Ruggs this early in the draft so I'm glad he went with an OT. I would have been happy with both Becton or Wirfs at that spot based on who was left. sec101row23
Not surprised to hear this. I think a day before the draft I said that either Becton or Ruggs, in that order would be the Jets selection at 11. They just so happened to go in that order as well.
Defense Wins Championships
I never wanted Ruggs coming out because he completely disappeared in big time games while performing disappearing acts; all while Jerry Jeudy stole the spotlight and performed like a madman once on a big stage (throughout multiple big games). When the Raiders selected Ruggs as the 1st WR selected I was mind bogged because I loved at least 5 WRs over Ruggs and it wasn't even close.
