JetNation
Rich Cimini of ESPN is reporting that the Jets are placing LG Alex Lewis on the non-football injury list, meaning he’ll miss at least three weeks. The Jets are planning to put G Alex Lewis on the non-football injury list, per source. Could happen as early as today. Minimum of 3 weeks before he can return. #Jets — Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) December 4, 2020 Lewis, who was acquired by GM Joe Douglas prior to the start of last season was given a new contract this offseason and is the team’s second-highest graded offensive lineman behind Mekhi Becton according to the folks at pro football focus. As one might expect, the Jets have been mum on the circumstances surrounding the Lewis situation, but it’s a surprising development considering the fact that Lewis was the only Jets player to publicly defend Gase this offseason when it was reported that there was discontent within the Jets locker room. Rumors of an altercation between Gase and Lewis are yet to be substantiated, but there is clearly something amiss. 20andOut
If they put him on the non-football injury list wouldn't that require an actual injury or illness and not a disciplinary benching?

addage
At this point there has to be some Lucretia Learns About Life soap opera stuff going on. Maybe Alex has a locker room tantrum? Hurts himself? Who knows. But we will surely see more of this.

rangerous
I don’t see what the big deal is. People seem to pile on gase whenever there’s an issue with a player. Gase didn’t tell adams to shoot his mouth off so he’d be traded. Gase told the truth about bell. And now we don’t know what’s up with Lewis. Could be some sort of substance abuse or some other personal problem. 3

UntouchableCrew
Hmm. Sounds like maybe an addiction issue? Either way sounds like the Gase altercation rumors are BS. 1

Perhaps addiction or even something like anxiety or a mood/mental issue. Nothing to make light of. The fact that the Jets are helping him, paying him, giving him time to get help, etc. is a positive in my opinion. As for the Gase altercation, that could still be part of it. There may have been an issue or confrontation but maybe there’s a realization that it’s stemming from another issue that Lewis has or that triggered it. Again, who knows? I wish the guy well, he’s been a decent player on a horrid offense for two years.

peebag
Man, this season and year. Can't wait until we find out that CJ has been "reviewing" the locker room tapes; particularly the ones from the vantage point of the player's showers. BornJetsFan1983
CHARACTER ASSASINATION!!! Are we supposed to believe any of this crap? Gase is such a chode. A player called out his BS an now he has some mysterious non football injury and wont play? yeah right. I will tell you waht happened like the long string of players before him, that decided not to just pretend gase wasn't a completel failure, he called him our and the little man coach is trying to hurt his career. Terrible leadership on top of bad coaching. Perfect. How long do we ahve to endure this crap, all Gase does is hurt this team. just reminder we have won 0 games this year and we got our second best lineman getting crapped on.
