I think yes.

reason is they went with a soft Mangini-esque preven umbrella at the beginning of the drive.  And then out of nowhere once the field was shorter they go man to man with a casino blitz except the blitzers weren’t trying and the DBs ran half speed

No.

And before I’d even think the jets as a organization was tanking I would believe the NFL is tanking the Jets to ensure the top prospect ends up in the biggest market. Why? Literally every time we needed a call to save us from ourselves, and save this tank we have got it, ALL YEAR ?

not to mention how this brutal schedule and how it’s setup, the creators had to look at it and know the Jets would probably win a game or 2 at best

I don’t believe any of this personally, I think we just have bad coaches and this is why a large portion of the fan base wanted to clean house after last season.

He doesn’t. But he also doesn’t call that defense there if he’s trying to win. He doesn’t have Revis and Cromartie Back there, he has that one guy and the other guy learning the position. I can’t tell you why he did it, but certainly looks like he did.

Anyone who's familiar with the career of Gregg Williams knows he always calls hot Blitz instead of prevent. Gruden knew it too. This is who gw is and why he was fired from 9 teams prior to this job.

No.

Absolutely no.

First of all, it wouldn't have been the Jets.  It would specifically be Greg Williams.  The only person that would have the means to ask him to throw the game there would be Chris Johnson and I just can't see that happening.  CJ would have to pretty much guarantee him the HC spot to make it worth even considering and there is no way that could happen now (or even after the season) without the conspiracy theories getting a full tank of gas and the NFL running a real investigation.  And I see no scenario where GW decides on his own it's in his best interests to have done so.

If the tank were a group effort, then a PI call is a much better way to go about it.  You tell the CB to do just enough to draw the flag and it doesn't affect his stats and nobody is the wiser.  Rookie CB?  Nobody has a second thought.

So I think it was GW probably having more of a "we're 0-11 so let's do something crazy and see if it works" moment.

he'd been blitzing a lot and it worked the drive before so why not do it again?

The argument I keep reading is what would Greg Williams have to gain since he won't be here next year.

For me the flipside is even worse. To believe a long tenured NFL DC would go full out blitz with 0 man coverage in that situation is not only crazy , its career suicide.  So it makes me believe there are ulterior motives at play here , is it a personal conflict type of thing between coaches or within the Jets organization or does Williams and staff have a guarantee their jobs are safe if they tank. Its not like Williams is a choir boy and it wouldn't be surprising he'd be involved in either type of scenario.

Ok, odd compulsion considering who he has on the back end but coming from you I have no problem accepting.  Consider me a strong maybe going foreword, thanks Bit.

Believe it
He goes full blitz more than anyone else that's why he is Gregg bounty gate Williams

Look at the saints vs Alex Smith in the division playoffs
Vernon Davis made Williams pay in a similar spot
It's what gw is known for. He believes prevent is bs and does not call it

He wouldn't.

With that said, that looked to be the most obvious tank job I've ever seen in pro sports.

So who knows.  Maybe SAR is right after all, and Gase and Williams have been assured their spots in 2021, if they secure the #1 pick in 2020.

This what I posted in a thread yesterday:

Alternate Tinfoil hat theory:

Gase and Gregg honestly don’t like each other. Gase hired Joe Vitt to the staff after Gregg was hired and we know they hate each other because Vitt snitched on Gregg during the bountygate days...

With the Jets seemingly having the win in hand and Adam Gase looking like he’ll get his 1st win this season, Gregg Williams pulls that stunt to give the Raiders the win and Gase remains winless as HC this season. Gregg Williams is a known douchebag and has no vested interest in the Jets W-L record at this point because he knows he and the entire staff is getting the boot at the end of the season......

??‍♂️

Yup! Williams hates Gase and is being childish.

Lol the Jets offered gw more money to lose? Really.

A few weeks ago there was a report that the tank is in for the Jets from the upper levels. If true, it would make sense they would incentivize people to lose.

It's unlikely but a remote possibility. I mean - that call was just insane. Hard to explain. So is Frank Gore being the work horse all season ...

The Jets don't like to pay money for any reason.
They are not giving gw extra money to lose

I know I'm repeating myself but study Gregg Williams' career he has a well known disdain for prevent. And gruden knew he'd be in single coverage

If anything this is an illustration of how poor the Jets are coached

What do the Jets have to gain from it - just asking.
