He's put together a good staff there at Rutgers.  A lot of prominent NJ coaches on the staff, many from the top parochials, which will help recruiting.  They have direct access to the top programs in the state since the guys on staff either were head coaches at those respected schools or have family coaching at them.

I dont think his personality played well in the Pro's with guys that won't put up with as much as in college.  Just my 2 cents.

Exactly.  If he even keeps a couple of the top Jersey kids from leaving the state each year, it will be a huge improvement.  As you noted, he has started creating these pipelines to the program.   There’s no arguing that the product on the field has already seen a huge improvement.  If Rutgers follows through with their commitment to their facilities then I’d expect recruiting to take a decent step forward.

maybe schiano should be on the jets list.  at the very least they could be talking with him now.  i don't know why he was launched in tampa.  it could be all about timing.  maybe the bucs had too many vet players and didn't listen to him.  or maybe he tried to control one side of the ball instead of managing the whole team.  or maybe that team just didn't have any talent.

Yea guys ive talked to said that those upgrades to the facilities are in the works, try harder and harder to entice the kids to stay home instead of leaving..  I dont think they'll keep the 1A kids but they have a real shot at keeping the 2 and 3 level kids for sure which will help, maybe eventually get a few 1B kids too.  The good news is some of the newer coaches are from top programs recently and lot of the kids they recruited there will be graduating in the next 1-3 years so they have an automatic in with those prospects.

Never liked the blind state wide love football fans had for Rutgers when they were hot in the first go around of Schiano, I hated that everyone was just all of a sudden a "huge Rutgers Fan", actually made me root against them lol. But now I know a lot of these guys on staff personally and I'm back to rooting for them to succeed.  The best thing I can say is they seem to have a vision on how to recruit in state which is more than you can say for them in the past. NJ is one of the top 5-6 football states in the country (outside of the mainstays CA, TX, FL, GA)
