freestater
We've got this place to commiserate because of our genius head coach this time. Its a wonderful way to exercise our demons of the green 'n white variety. But back then, probably most of us didn't have the internet, or large groups of Jets fans to share our pain. So I ask, during those dark years way back in the stone(d) age, what did you do to keep yourself from giving up on this incompetent football team?

Joe Jets fan
We listen to and called into talk radio. Plus remember we could go to games and meet other fans in person and bitch. see, people did talking in person, not to a computer/phones. 2
Popular Post nj meadowlands
The funny thing is that the sum of the last 10 years has been far worse than what you refer to as "the Kotite Years," which we emerged from into a pretty long stretch of relevance and decent football. We have been crap since 2011, and it shows no signs of stopping. What football fans imagined the Jets were during "the Kotite Years" is actually what we are now. 6
Savage69
The 70's decade was much worse Kotite only lasted 2 years just like the Gase era will.. 4
Matt39
Coslet and Kotite led to Hess finally giving in and going after Parcells. Unfortunately even at 0-16 I don’t think it’s going to light a fire under Woodys ass to bring in a guy to run the entire show to clean it up.

Now, I'm older, kind of numb to it, and don't care that much. Honestly I like talking about the Jets here far more than I actually like watching the Jets play.
joewilly12
Season ticket holder back then who attended every home game regardless of weather, opponent, game time and stayed until the clock was at 00:00. It's what you do as a fan of the NY Jets you take the good times with the bad like any other thing in life. NY Jets fans are the most resilient fans in the NFL and NY Jets fans are predominately good people for the most part. Things can't get any worse and can only get better 0-16 is needed for this organization to get a wake up call it desperately needs. If the Johnson brothers cant handle it then sell the team, doubt that happens because it seems like its all about the money for them win or lose. Imagine the day when we all will be able to celebrate a Super Bowl victory, I'm actually hoping for a dynasty and long successful run at being NFL Champions multiple years.

We're living around the greatest city in the world. There's always something else to do. It's not like the Jets are the only show in town. They're one of many distractions. Take a look at Cleveland sports fans. Now those guys are resilient. As there's nothing else going on, the overall sense of misery must be far stronger.

jgb
I was a teenager. I spent those years consoling my dad. We watched the games together -- this was before the NC Jets fan club was formed -- in random bars around town, whichever one was ramshackle enough to put the Jets on that week in Raleigh. You couldn't even call ahead they'd always just say "we have to see what the crowd looks like." The bartenders hated us because he doesn't drink and we would nurse unlimited refill sweet teas all game. I was a young and optimistic sunshiner in those days, I still remember when I'd tell him "they'll get better," he'd just put his hand on my shoulder and shake his head. Probably from guilt knowing what he had condemned me to.
munchmemory
I was at all those home games and it was just brutal. Lots of seats were empty or filled with the opposing team's fans. Folks outside were selling tickets for face value if you were lucky or even giving them away. Just an awful time to be a Jet fan. Kinda like now. shuler82
I was in high school and it was the mid 90s so I’d imagine with a lot of Red Dogs, blasting a little grunge, and having the occasional under the bleachers teenage hook up.

slimjasi
My first year watching the Jets was 1996 (what an intro!), so I just sat there like "wow, this team is bad" and then went back to playing Playstation 1.
