The only situation I can think of that is kinda close was the Texans passing on Reggie bush for Mario Williams, the Texans were kinda right about bush but not enough so that they ever got credit for going against the grain there

They should get way more credit. Mario Williams had near 100 career sacks, and had a way better career than Reggie Bush.
