Popular Post JXN_JET
Ok gonna be a long winded post. This is more of a coping mechanism for me than anything else. This is what I would like to see happen now that the Jets most likely missed out on TL. On Black Monday, Adam Gase and his coaching staff are shot to the moon. I want the local news to be there when we march him and his staff out of the building while being escorted by armed security guards. Next, I would like to hire Brian Daboll or Arthur Smith as head coach with Smith being my favorite to win the job. I think if we get the right pieces in, we could model ourselves off of what the Titans are doing. The decision to keep Sam or draft a QB will be very telling based off of our coaching pick. In this scenario, we keep Darnold. By all statistical measurements, he has been the worst starting QB in the league but at this point I dont like anybody except TL. We give him one last shot in a contract year. I would like JD to tell him its put up or shut up time. There has to be someone in this league who can turn Sam around, hopefully this is Arthur Smith. Next we move into the offseason. We end up cutting Perriman, Jenkins, Gore, Josh Andrews, McDermott, Lewis, Perriman, and Crowder Griffin, Wesco, Cashman. I really like Crowder but I think he could be on the tail end of his prime. Could come back to bite us but I do believe we have a replacement. We resign GVR, Elflein, Poole, Maye, Hewitt, Flacco, Langi, Maulet, and Lamar Jackson. Big ones are Poole and Maye. If a better slot CB shakes loose, maybe you upgrade Poole but id let JD make that decision. As for other FA signings, losing out TL will dramatically hinder our ability to recruit FA without severely overpaying. Thats why we dont end up going all out on FA this year. The FAs we do sign are Scherff (Thuney gets resigned), Ryan Kerrigan and Romeo Okwara to play edge. One good thing about keeping Darnold is that it increases our chances with Juju Smith Schuster who becomes our new Slot. As for the actual draft, I will be using pro football network's mock draft simulator. Sitting at 1.2, we should have a decent ability to trade down with someone. I like Sewell, but he would end up playing RT and I think drafting a RT at 2 is too high. So we end up trading down with SF. SF is sitting at 1.12 right now and are pretty much a QB away from being really good. I could see them overpaying for the chance to take the best of the rest after TL. The computer has them offering 1.12 2.43 and 2022 1st, 2nd, 3rd. I feel like this is too much to realistically ask for so for this sake I give them back their 2022 2nd. At 1.12, we take Kyle Pitts TE out of Florida. If you havent seen his highlights, you really need to see this guy. He is a matchup nightmare. Too big for safetys and too fast for LBs. He immediately becomes a check down option for Sam. At 1.26, we are in a position to take either Humphrey C or Cosmi OT. I think Fant has played very well this season. I know he's 28 but this has been his first season starting so its not unacceptable for me to believe he can be even better next season. With that being said, we take Humphrey C out of Oklahoma. This allows us to move McGovern to Guard and we finish out our Oline for next season. People forget that we will still get the first pick in the second round even if finish with the same record as Jacksonville. At 2.33 we get some interest in some trades. One that interests me is Tampa is offering 2.53 and 2022 2 for 2.33. I make the move. At 2.37 somehow Najee Harris RB Alabama is still on the board. He reminds me of a smaller yet faster Derrick Henry, Arthur Smith will know exactly what to do with him. At 2.53 Baltimore offers us 2.57 and a 2022 4th so I accept. At 2.56 we take our first defensive player, Asante Samuel Jr. CB out of Florida State. Has a nfl pedigree (literally). Should be able to come in an compete for a starting job. At 3.66 we take Amom-Ra St. Brown. His highlights are literally him blowing past DBs deep are finding an open spot in a zone defense. I think he could pair nicely with Mims on the outside. At 3.89 we start to think about helping out our defense. Here I take Baron Browning. More of a Sam linebacker, he can come in and compete for a starting job in a defense I suspect will look like a 4-3. At 4.96 the jets take Aashari Crosswell Safety out of Arizona State. We have to look to add safety depth and I think Crosswell can fill that hole. At 5.129 we trade pick 7.216 and 5.129 to the Texans for 5.132 and 6.180 At 5.132 we draft Victor Dimukeje Edge from Duke. I wanted to add some Edge competition before we spend a high draft pick on edge in 2022. At 5.139 the Jets add Nico Collins WR out of Michigan. The man is 6'4" and hopefully can become a red zone threat at the next level. At 6.157 the Jets take a more traditional Mike LB in Erroll Thompson out of Mississippi State. I know a second player at a position that is not at great need but I think we should try to shore this position up now so we arent dealing with it in 3 years. At 6.173 we take Camryn Bynum CB out of California. Probably a special teamer but who knows. At 6.180 we take a shot on Jeremy Ruckert, TE from Ohio State. Could come in and compete with Chris Herndon for TE2. And that concludes our 2021 NFL Draft. Overview: HC Arthur Smith QB: Sam Darnold, Joe Flacco, James Morgan RB: Najee Harris, Perine, Ty Johnson WR: Mims, St. Brown, Smith-Schuster, Nico Collins, Berrios LT: Becton, Edoga LG: Scherff, Elflein. GVR C; Humphreys RG: McGovern, Cam Clark RT: Fant, Edoga TE: Pitts, Herndon, Ruckert DL: Q. Williams, John Franklin Myers, Kerrigan, Okwara, Fatukasi, Huff, Zuniga, Dimukeje LB: Mosley, Hewitt, Langi, Browning, Thompson CB: Austin, Hall, Asante Jr, Maulet, Bynum, Lamar Jackson S: Maye, Davis, Crosswell Thats 44 by my count, JD can add more backups as he pleases. If Sam can look like his rookie season self, Id say this is a 7-9 win team with a chance to be 2nd in the division. If he looks like he did this season, this is probably a 4 win team but we would have some ammo to move up if we'd like. 2022 draft 1st round 1st round Seattle 1st round SF 2nd round 2nd round TB 3rd round 3rd round SF 4th round CLE 5th round 5th round Steelers (Avery) 6th round 6th round TB (McLendon) 6th round SF (Willis) If you got to this part, what do you think and what would you change. I think this could be a scary team that uses the run to open the deep play action similar to the Titans.

TheMo
Respect the work dude. Well done. That said I can’t justify running back the same QB group for another year. I think you draft trask late in the first assuming he doesn’t rise. You have to have a hedge against darnold and a potential continued backslide even if you think the secondary QBs aren’t worth the high first. I guess the thought with this was build for a qb next year. Idk give darnold one more shot with the thought process that it probably wont work and we will be taking someone next year. Sonny Werblin
Well done. I think the Jets need to pay more attention to LB in the draft. I'd like to see them draft and ILB who can cover --like Chazz Surratt or Jabril Cox. I also believe they will try to draft a CB to start opposite Hall with an eye toward trying Austin in the slot. JohnnyLV
Up vote for the effort and completeness. Sort of hate it in so many ways that it would be useless to try and offer a reply. If we do not finish 1 and take Lawrence I am taking Wilson. Period. Would try to arrange a 3 way trade with Cincinatti and Carolina so that Cin takes Sewell, we take Wilson and Carolina takes Fields we win up with Cincy 2022 one as well as Wilson, Carolina nets a couple picks as well.
