It depends on what kind of deals can be made. I wouldn't give up Darnold for anything less than a second round pick. We would get a third round comp pick if we let him walk so it needs to be better than that.

He is ****ed because of those circumstances. Hopefully he can become un****ed, but I'm not wasting a minute waiting for that to happen. He may have always been ****ed but I'm not wasting another year finding that out either.

Someone posted all first round QBs drafted in last 20 years. Only Tannehill -- arguably, and he had two 4,000-yard seasons with Fins -- played significantly better with his second team.

Betting on Darnold to turn it around is a horrendous bet. I would bet any amount of money he never makes a pro bowl.

Running JetNation has been good for me in a lot of ways. The absolute worst part of it has been having to deal with things like this. Rape jokes, threatening physical violence...these are not anything I would do myself. I could just delete these posts but when someone has been warned time and time again and you turn the other way, people feel that it becomes acceptable. Making it worse is when someone you consider a friend does it.

This site will not be home to physical threats, even when they are a "joke". The last time something like this happened it was a giant pain in the ass for me on a personal level. I received so many complaints from the banned poster. That being said, it doesn't matter this stuff can't happen here.

Your user account has been banned and it will never be unbanned as long as I own the site. If the Jets are causing you this much aggravation and you feel the need to talk to others this way it is probably time to evaluate things.  Either way this banning is permanent, I am not dealing with this anymore.

I will shut down this site and walk away before threatening to beat people up and rape them becomes acceptable.

I am going to open this back up in a little bit, with a note and a warning to everyone.

1. If you want Sam Darnold to be the QB here in the future, that is okay.

2. If you don't want Sam Darnold to be the QB here in the future, that is okay.

What is not okay is fighting. Attacking others. Agree to disagree. It is okay to root for the Jets. It is okay to be a fan. It is okay to get mad at the Jets. It is okay to want roster changes.

Also not okay ganging up on other posters because they think differently. We have an ignore feature. Use it if you don't agree with someone.

We are getting a record amount of posts right now. Adam Gase is a few days away from being fired. Moderating this site is tough. Even tougher during the peak times like what is about to happen here.

If you choose not to follow the rules here, we have no choice but to ban you.  Please everyone, 2020 has been so tough for so many people. Don't let that boil over, this is the Jets we are talking about here. No reason to let any of this ruin your day. Life is too short for that.

I think Sam Darnold can be a lot better than what he's been here under Gase.  But I also don't think he's the future.  We have three years of film now and while there have been flashes and occasional "moments" of greatness, he's simply too inconsistent and continues to make rookie type mistakes in his third year.  Even if he got better coaching and was surrounded by upgraded talent I think it moves the needle only marginally.  In other words, I see him topping out at being a good QB and never being the kind of great Top 5-10 guy you really need in order to compete for championships.

It's unfortunate because I think he's a good kid who has some talent and he got a bit of a raw deal here, but I think both he and the Jets would be better if he played somewhere else next year.

I would love to believe in Darnold. He seems like a great guy and I really thought he was the one.  
 

But I just don’t see it. He’s doesn’t make enough plays. He doesn’t find completions that good quarterbacks find. 
 

It seems extremely unlikely that he is going to turn into a franchise QB after 37 starts of not being close.

draft Wilson at 2, sit him in 2021

Start Darnold, if he does well you keep him or his trade value goes up

if he flames out you start Wilson later in the year or in 2022

That shouldn’t matter when it comes to a football teams, 99.9% of the league follow the rules and just come and play ball. That’s something that’s being overvalued is him being a “good kid” imo.

Time to move on.  We have the second pick in the draft.  No need to give up picks to move up.  It may not be Trevor, but Justin Fields and Zach Wilson are still good QB prospects.  I am hoping JD likes one enough to take him.  Don't care which one, but hopefully one will be worthy of the pick.  And use four more top 100 picks and $80M in cap space to build around our guy.  And we still have two more 1s next year to add to it.

This is where I am at. I am not sold on Fields but I am hoping that Douglas is sold on Wilson. Otherwise trade down and bring Sam back, but either way they need to improve the roster in a big way.
