Rangers standing pat...

Jeff Gorton: “We made a number of calls, took a number of calls, went through a number of scenarios, and it’s clear we have a plan in place. Nothing that came along was going to add to what we wanted to do and was something we felt was going to help us, short term or long term.”

I like it.

Smart....some times the best trades are the ones you don't make.

Just deleted by FB account 2 weeks ago.  Never had Twitter etc.  This page is the most social media I’ll do.  Just switched search engines to duck duck go as well.

Might want to look into https://brave.com/ I use that browser with duck duck go. It blocks ads and tracking, but unfortunately if you are using Android or Apple they are probably getting your data any

Hopefully we’ll get some more details on what happened but if part of the reason he’s getting waived is because of “controversial” (conservative) political views then that really pisses me off. It’s a

Eichel in the offseason for cheap (assuming he is OK medically)

They would probably have to include Buchnevich, it would be tough to sign him long term if we add Eichel.

Buch has made a huge step up in his game this year but Buch for Eichel?  In a heartbeat

What’s the deal with him? How terrible does he have to be in the room to be this unwanted?

I'm not sure, they kept it in-house but apparently he was warned and crossed the line again, which was the last straw.

He had troubles in juniors and Phoenix as well. It's telling that nobody else wanted him, coming off a year where he got Norris trophy votes.

I really hope they can move him or at the very least get him off the salary cap.

The youth on this team is very encouraging, haven’t really been following the whole NHL, really just the rangers, how bad did the rangers miss out on a another young gun with the Anderson pick in 2017? Anyone picked 3-8 spots after him look real promising?

Not really, we picked Anderson at 7 and we got Chytil at 21.

Yea. I knew about chytil, lessen the sting of the busted pick by a lot. Just was curious if the rest of the draft class from pick 8-20 was also disappointing

The Devils are a good team who are capable of skating with pretty much anyone in the league and yet the other teams above us have consistently found a way to pocket two points against them more often than not.  This strange four game stretch against one team is a gut check for the Rangers.  The Devils are loose, they have nothing to lose and if we just go out and get ourselves into a wild shootout game against them then that has a good chance of not ending well for us.

Are we serious about making a run at the 4th and final playoff spot or are we just OK being an up and coming team who may or may not turn into a serious contender two or three years from now?  Realistically we need at least six points from a possible eight here.

It is getting late.

When the Rangers are playing their best we can also beat any team in the league ourselves. This stretch against NJ is certainly a test though and you're right. There's only so many games left, if the Rangers are going to make a big push it has to come now.

I agree we are an impressive team at times.  Just ask the Islanders after this recent two game stretch.  My concern and frustration comes from the inconsistency and lack of attention to detail on some nights.  Spotting the other team a one or two goal lead early in games.  Giving up a late one at the end of periods or not making the simple play to get out of the defensive zone leading to protracted ice time and frequently goals as a result.

Maybe it is a coaching thing and Quinn does not have this team ready to play on some nights.  Good teams find a way to fake it until they make it.  We just fall flat way too often after a big win and frankly a four-game stretch against one of the teams behind us is just exactly where kind of thing happens.

Rangers have 15 games left.... Bruins with 17. The last 2 games Rangers have are wiyh Bruins.... but then Bruins play Isles & Caps to close out the season. It's going to be a dog fight to the end. It will be playoff hockey for the rest of the season for the youngsters.

Add Zac Jones to the list of youngsters!!

https://nypost.com/2021/04/13/zac-jones-signs-with-rangers-days-after-winning-national-championship/

The Rangers made the Zac Jones signing official on Tuesday, ending the 20-year-old’s collegiate career at UMass three days after he won the national championship.

Jones, a third-round pick in 2019, agreed to a three-year entry-level contract that carries an $832.5K cap hit at the NHL level and $70K in the AHL with a $92.5K signing bonus, The Post has learned.

There is no quarantine period for Jones, who skated with the Rangers this morning, head coach David Quinn said Tuesday before their matchup with the Devils. Quinn also noted that Jones will get into the lineup when they feel like he can make an impact.

After Tuesday’s game in Newark, Jones will have 14 games left in the regular season to get onto the ice. The signing burns the first year of his contract, which does not include any performance bonuses.

@BROOKLYN JET and @EM31 please keep an eye out for Zac Jones - UMass - over the next several games.

Hoping we have some 7-0 games to give him and the young bucks some increased ice time on the PP or 1st ot 2nd line & rest some of the vets. That said .... only wins matter at this point.

The problem is not knowing which games are going to be 7-0 in advance because of who is and who is not dressed to play that night.  I am all for looking at the youngsters but this team is in a playoff push right now and they are playing pretty well.
