Welcome off ignore @SAR I. Wouldn’t want to miss the explanation of how you were still somehow right all along.

He's just going to 100% bash and hate our next HC.

I think he got 60 days.

Damn I was looking forward to gem threads like "HC Hired!" followed by a link to whoever the Texans hired or "Harbaugh signed!" with a link to the details of his extension in MI.

Jets fire Adam Gase after 2-14 season

January 3, 2021Updated 9:07 PM EST

The Jets fired head coach Adam Gase after Sunday’s loss to the Patriots ended New York’s season at 2-14. Gase went 9-23 in two seasons with the Jets, who started the season 0-13 before upsetting the Rams and Browns in Weeks 15 and 16. Eleven of New York’s losses came by at least eight points. Hired for his offensive background, Gase passed off play-calling duties to coordinator Dowell Loggains for stretches during the offense’s struggles this season. The Jets entered Sunday ranked last in the NFL in scoring (15.3 points per game), total offense (275.3 yards per game) and yards per play (4.7) by wide margins. Former No. 3 overall pick Sam Darnold has been hurt and struggled when on the field, throwing for just 2,208 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 12 games. When asked after the game if he had thought he played his final game as a Jet, Darnold said: "I’m not sure." New York has not made the playoffs since the 2010 season. The Jets will have the second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Fill in the blank: Gase's Jets tenure was ... ?

Connor Hughes, Jets beat writer: Disappointing. The Jets hired him to make Sam Darnold a franchise quarterback. They hired him hoping he'd give them a prolific offense. They hired him because they believed he was "coaching football to where it was going." He did none of those things.

Darnold regressed. It's very likely the Jets replace him this offseason.

In 2019, Gase's offense ranked 31st in points per game, last in yards and last in offensive efficiency. In 2020, his offense entered Week 17 ranked last in points per game, last in yards and 31st in offensive efficiency.

The Jets are back at square one in their never-ending rebuild, and Gase is a big reason why.

What's next for Gase?

Hughes: Best to answer this one two ways.

The first is what Gase should do: Breathe. Take a year off. Maybe two. Assess what went wrong in Miami, New York, and with his offense. Travel to different camps and see how coaches keep reinventing themselves. Then, get back in it with some fresh ideas.

The second is what he likely will do: Keep coaching. No team, obviously, will make Gase its head coach. It's hard to imagine him being anyone's offensive coordinator, either, considering how bad the Dolphins and Jets offenses were the last five years. He has plenty of friends around the league, though, so he might be able to land a quarterbacks job. Keep an eye on the Patriots opening.

The Johnson brothers just need to let Douglas has free reign over the next coaching hire. Stay the heck out of the way!

I think they will back off on the process but they’ll always control the budget and I’m just not confident they’ll pony up what it takes to get a sought after candidate in here.
