If it was up to scouting, they go with the player regardless of criminal history or other problems... Klecko pleaded guilty Monday in United States District Court in Philadelphia after Judge HARVEY BARTLE 3d rejected a defense motion to dismiss the charge of perjury. His lawyer said Klecko was "lured" into committing perjury. A Federal indictment accused Klecko, a four-time Pro Bowl choice in his career with the Jets from 1977 to 1987, of lying about a $6,000 insurance claim submitted in July 1988 on his truck. The indictment said Klecko told a grand jury that his truck had been damaged by chemical particles and debris and that the truck had been repainted, when in fact neither was true. Klecko is scheduled to be sentenced April 8. He faces up to five years in prison and a $25,000 fine. (AP)

Ok genius, unfortunately you need to delve deeper if you want to be taken seriously. Let me educate you! #1 The NFL did not record sacks as a statistic until 1982. So, if you are a simpleton, and you read the stat sheet, it would appear that Joe Klecko only got 24 sacks in his career. The fact is that Klecko got 51.5 sacks before 1982, so that I one fallacy I must correct. #2 And this is directed at the other genius, Bitoni! in 1981, Joe Klecko got 20.5 sacks and Mark Gastineau got 20 sacks that year. Yes, Klecko got more sacks than Gastineau.; a fact. That year was the year of THE New York Sack Exchange, and the team totaled 66.5 sacks for the year. #3 That same year in 1981, Klecko got 107 tackles, with 72 solo tackles. He also played through a sprained foot that same year. Klecko was named by Sports Illustrated "The NFL Player of the Year" in 1981. Not too bad for a guy that Bitoni said would be undraftable in todays NFL. According to Barry Wilner of the Associated Press, "Klecko was the Heart of the Sack Exchange". Again, not too bad for a guy that Bitoni said would not be able to be drafted in todays NFL. Just if you are interested, in 1980, Gastineau had 11.5 sacks, and Klecko had 10.5 sacks. So, in two prime years of both of of these players, Gastineau had a total of 1/2 sack more than Klecko, but Gastineau was not 1/2 of the player that Klecko was. In 1982, Klecko suffered a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee, and that is when things went downhill for Joe Klecko. Klecko was drafted in 1977, and from 1977 through 1981, those 5 years, Klecko was the man amongst men. Unless you want to admit you were wrong, please just let this go. Klecko was my second favorite Jet of all time behind Joe Namath. It's bad enough that I have to put up with non-Jets fans, you know what I mean?
