I like this Ty Johnson kid...

Recommended Posts

I’d love to run it back with ty, perine, and a rookie or cheap veteran.

as much as i like the idea of etienne or Harris, i feel like there’s more proof every year that using a high draft pick or spending a lot of money on a running back is dumb.

The object is to score points.

I mean.... i agree....

I’m not an expert but i believe in nfl history, every team that has scored more points has won the game

i don’t understand the correlation though? Do the teams that spent the most on rb’s score the most?

out of the top 10 highest paid running backs this year, only 2 of their teams (saints & titans) made the playoffs

Ty Johnson Josh Adams LaMical Perine nice additions but need a feature HR hitting game breaker RB

Agreed.  But having Johnson, Perine and Adams + the FA period to sign a reasonable vet if he wants makes me think JD won't touch a RB before Round 3 at the absolute earliest.

He should definitely be in the rotation competing against Perine for at least RB2 next yr, dude has break away speed and is not afraid to lower his head.

Using the eye test, Johnson and Adams have already shown they are better than Perine...a poor draft pick by JD..wouldn't be surprised if Perine is cut or traded.

I'd say bring Perine to training camp and preseason (if there is) and let him compete for it, I wouldn't give up on him just yet. And he needs to stay healthy. But as of right now Ty Johnson is leading the pack. We may still need an elite reliable #1 though

my favorite RB in the draft is N.Harris.  If he is there at the top of the 2nd I say we take him after we draft Sewell and a wr with seattle's pick. That being said, I really liked this kid and adams for a couple of games.  Question is can they do it for a whole season. LP as this kid calls him, idk about him...

But that only says don't sign them to 2nd contracts. Take Harris at #35 & get 4 years out of him & let him go like smart teams like the Steelers do!

I don’t typically love taking a back early because it’s so common to get more than adequate production without such an investment. But with the Jets having so many high picks and so much cap room, I could get behind a high pick for a RB — just not top 5-10 overall high pick. Too high for a position that carries such a high injury rate and is so dependent upon the OL and/or passing game threat no matter how talented. But a late 1 or early 2? Depends on what the other draft options are there at the time, but sure.

Late 1 also gets the team a 5th year option, without a long term commitment in a position that’s among the least likely to play out a full 2nd contract. But that’s too hard/detailed to plan out in early January, well before the combine and FA, let alone 4 years down the road after that.
