  1. 1. With the College Football season now over, where do you rank Fields amongst QB Draft prospects?

    • He's the #1 QB in the Draft
      2
    • #2
      80
    • #3
      50
    • He's the #4 QB or lower
      18
  2. 2. Is Justin Fields worthy of being a Top 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft?

    • Yes
      74
    • No
      76
  3. 3. Among the following, what is the best QB plan for the Jets in 2021?

    • Draft the best available QB (according to Joe Douglas) at #2. (assume no Lawrence. Could be Fields, Wilson, Lance, etc.); Trade Darnold. Also sign a veteran backup
      58
    • Trade down from #2 and take a QB later in the Draft (a Mac Jones, Kyle Trask type); Trade Darnold. Sign or trade for a veteran, JAG starter QB (think a Fitzpatrick, Tyrod Taylor, Jacoby Brissett type)
      24
    • Keep Sam Darnold; Sign a veteran backup. Maximize the #2 pick with a player like Sewell, Devonta Smith or a trade down.
      58
    • Keep Sam Darnold AND Draft a QB at #2
      10
    • Trade Sam Darnold, don't draft a QB, roll with Captain Morgan because he has a cool nickname. Bring back Flacco AND McCown to backup. Hire Mark Sanchez to coach them all. :-)

The problem is the 5th year option.  What if Sam is back and shows SOME improvement.  Are you gambling by paying him all that money for animprovement over the horrible last season?

If there's confidence over the summer that this is a new Sam in a new system, you pick up the option. Unless he gets injured bad (a risk, but so everything) then you can still cut bait after 2021 if its not enough. I think Sam would have to have a Tannehill sized come back player of the year type performance to warrant any further considerations... but... he does have the profile/pedigree of someone who could be that guy

just to double down on that reply -- this is not really about Darnold... like he's likely done. This about a 3 roster rebuild. There's a list 12 things that need to be done (making up a number)... the order isn't as important, so long as we enter 2023 as serious playoff/championship contenders.

This team isn't going anywhere in 2021... hopefully on track in 2022 for 10-6 wildcard competitors... if it happens sooner, great - but you don't bank on it.

Also, with these rookie QB contracts being so important... might be better to start the clock on that in 2022 when we'll be competitive
