ESPNews reports the talks regarding the Collective Bargaining Agreement have broken down between the NFL Players Association and team owners. The meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, has been called off, according to NFL Players Association Executive Director Gene Upshaw. The set deadline is Wednesday, March 1, at 4:00 p.m. EST.

There's too much money to be made by all sides fro there not to be a deal.

I hope Upshaw, if he's gonna pick a few issues to fight for, gets more of contracts gauranteed, percentage-wise, rather than having these ludicrous Drew Rosenhaus press conferences where player x is breathlessly touted as having a $ 85 million , 7 year deal, which is a joke if you passed 3rd grade math. Also, the pension plan should vest much earlier for guys who's careers are mostly over after 3 years, and the medical plan for retired players should be greatly enhanced. Those would be good tradeoffs for a salary cap.

Isn't it true if no agreement was made that cap would be less than expected and could really kick the Jets in the a$$

The cap figure for this year is about 95mm. They estimated that if

there is a CBA the figure would be about 105.

I don't know how the Jets are going to make it without cutting

or severely restructuring some good players.

An extra 10 mil would do wonders for us. We'd basically be only about 1 mil over, and with Chad re-structuring (which I believe will happen), and several other restructures/cuts, we would be in good shape.

If not, then the house cleaning continues...
