Was Daboll even interviewed

It's hilarious watching fans argue over coaches they almost assuredly know nothing about beyond the stats the read on ESPN.

Lets be clear, none of you know if Salah or Daboll or anyone else will be a success in NY.  Sure, obvious failures-to-be (like say, Gase) are obvious to anyone with half a brain, but most guys, especially first-time Head Coaches.....no idea.

You.  Have.  No.  Idea.

So relax, you can't control it, your wishes don't matter to anyone anywhere, and the Jets will hire who they hire.

As long as it's a well-regarded candidate, who cares which one.  Again, you have no idea if X can develop Y, or if Z really had alot to do with Q getting better.  You might think you know, but you don't.

So chill out and take what you get.  Half of you whining will, two days after the hire, be attacking anyone critical of the hire as bad fans, no matter who is hired, lol.

You could substitute "coach" with "highly-drafted QB" and I'd agree with both.

After he's hired, 80% of this forum will crown him for the HOF within a week.

My favorite part about the reports on the interviews is the complete silence on the Daboll front, as from my perspective he came in just behind Lewis as far and away the two worst candidates on the list, both of which I wanted nothing to do with.

But hey, if some folks here are convinced by an entire career of repeated failure followed by 4 months of success in the most ass-backward season imaginable, that's their prerogative.

CJ and JD made it clear that they aren't concerned with finding a defensive or offensive head coach, they are instead looking for someone to be a culture-changer and overseer of an OC and DC at a high level.  A CEO.

So whether Daboll is offensive or Saleh is defensive makes no difference.  The Jets are looking for someone agnostic.

SAR I

It has nothing to do with being offensive or defensive. I would be fine with Pete Carroll because Wilson developed under him

You could also substitute either with "anything", and it still holds true.

I guess it's time to just go ahead and shut down JN.  @Maxman, can you get on that?  Thanks, we're all done here now.

Please, can you provide in detail, exactly how you know these posters and how you know they are not aware of these public figures and their accomplishments over 10+ years in the nfl? Thanks.

Sincerely,

Warfish

Great, so right after we destroyed one FQB prospect with bad HC's who didn't know how to develop one, we have an opportunity to hire someone who has a proven track record but we bring in a guy who we don't know if he can do it, hoping he hires an OC who does, just when we are likely to draft another potential FQB prospect.

I hate this this team.

In case you havent heard, Daboll is a little busy with a playoff game or something I think, lol

I'm not authority on Daboll, so im not gonna tell you you're wrong... but what you're chronicling looks like a guy refining his trade. Subject matter expert... this the first time his name has been floated around seriously in the HC capacity... I'd like to think we're getting better as evaluators (we as in GMs/ownership) on figure who the foremen are, and who the specialists are. Their skillsets are different.

Well, that's right. Lots of guys end up finding out the hard way that theie ceiling is as a coordinator.  Teams like the Jets have done a good job helping many to figure that out. Hiring hot coordinators before they are ready and then watching them drown.

Then there are the coordinators that end up being food HC's.  Our personnel dept are tasked with having a good idea who is who before the 2-4 years of misery. Daboll, while not my top candidate seems like someone who has, at min climbe through the refinement process. I can't say the same for Arthur Smith, Joe Brady and some others.

Saleh is interesting, but also doesn't have quite the same resume as Daboll.

Anyhoo, just throwing it out there.

Does he not get some credit for helping Joe Burrow have one of the greatest collegiate seasons of all-time and ending up the # 1 overall pick?

Some?  That's literally all he has.

And he wasn't Burrow's coach at LSU. He was the passing game coordinator so he obviously had his input but he was the WR's coach.  Also didn't call plays outside of the red zone either.  I'm not saying Brady isn't a good offensive mind or that he wouldn't be an asset. I'm just saying the people who like him have very very little to support the idea that he's the guy to turn this sinking ship around.

you make a better argument than cowbell, but it doesnt mean that choosing Saleh will fail. Who knows if Daboll even wants to sign? He also has options.GUESS WHAT its not up to the jets

Sure.  I'm just trying to educate myself and therefore anyone else who I can chat with.  We gain a lot of feelings about this stuff.  But a lot of the time thats as far as we go. Who knows about half of these guys before they get on a list that we care about?  Now that we have a list it can be fun to actually learn about them.  I hated Daboll if only because he was a Bill.  Then I went through the research and was like Hmmm.  This guy seems like one who has actually earned a legit consideration for a HC. SOme of the other guys, not so much.

I like Saleh and would be happy with that one. but I'd prefer Daboll out of the two I think.

You know what, I hope this turns out well. This guy strikes as a Rex Ryan type from everything I have read which isn't  all that bad but we know how that turned out.

Your assumption that an offensive minded HC is needed to develop a QB is faulty.  We'd be just as much at risk of not developing the next QB with an offensive HC as with a defensive HC.  The HC is supposed to coach the team, not one half of the team.  F'ing Jets have gotten it wrong for so long.  QB development depends in the guy running the offense, not necessarily the HC.

WTF are you talking about -- so obvious Allen was ruined because McDermott isn't a former QBC. Also some other current QBs were ruined by matching them with a former defensive-side guy with no QBC-type experience: BB/Brady, Cowher/Rapist, Carroll/Wilson, LJax/Harbaugh, the turnaround Vrabel made with Tannehill, Smith/Ryan, etc.

We need a supposed QB guru + former OC to be the HC in order to develop a young QB. Someone like Adam Gase, for instance.

LSU sucked this past season without the Burrow/Brady combo.

Of course we don’t know how it will work out.  Just like draft picks or games.  Since, as you stated,  my wish doesn’t matter why bother watching or caring at all?

Nothing you have read says that.  You believe it to be true.  Hes never ever run an offense before, you dont know what kind of offense he wants to run, thats all.

Rex came from a a top defense, run first team.  Saleh never has been a DC for that type of team.  Point is nothing says what youre saying as fact, what has you worried about for some reason.  This is what the interview process is for

And? What I see ina lot of these arguments is that some people think they can pick whatever coach they want.  Right now the flavor of the day is saleh. The problem is saleh certainly has some say in what job he takes as do any of the interviewees. And the jets seem to be pretty deliberate in their process.  They aren’t going to make an impulsive decision.  Saleh may ultimately be the guy but they’re going to re-interview a few more guys and possibly bring in more if necessary.  We’ll see soon enough.

consider how bad the Texans have it since they’re going through Korn Ferry in their search. I wonder if Casserta is part of that search.

If you have to ask yourself that, maybe you shouldn't be a fan.

If you're only in it for obsessing over future hires/picks and yelling at people on the internet about how wrong they are about those future hires/picks, lol....

Most people here don't obsess about this, we're on a chat board discussing a very specific topic.  The coach and players we choose for this team do matter - do make a difference on

I, as I imagine most people, go about my life and outside of games, don't really think about this stuff all that much until I jump on here and enjoy hearing other fans thoughts on who our coach or draft picks should be.

Getting other's opinions, expressing mine on all things NY Jets is why I'm here and it's fun....

I guess we'll simply have to agree to disagree on what's worthy of caring about.
