We’ve seen this movie before. We hire the hot coordinator, over and over again.

I hope this all works out don’t get me wrong but I ain’t holding my breath.

I don’t really think of him as the “hot coordinator” more as a great leader who happened to be a coordinator at his last job. I don’t think they are hiring him because of his defensive prowess tbh.

The hot coordinator hire would have been Joe Brady for sure, or even Arthur Smith.

nice! Already making bad decisions. Fitting right in!

Is it just me or is that a little too definitive for a smokescreen?

For the brand new 'culture building' coach to come in and be like "he's our guy!" and then two months later be like "nope, you just got jammed"

That would be a total d*ck move, right?

Darnold it is. This thread 'bout to get ugly.

I feel this is Rex/Sanchez 2.0. And I think that may not be bad.

That's actually not a bad comp, but I think it's a better version obviously.  Saleh and Rex are defensive guys, they're high energy, they're about toughness and attacking.  But Saleh is a better leader IMO, he has more potential as an Executive type HC than Rex who famously couldn't even find the offensive meeting rooms in Florham Park.  We're getting a more complete coach IMO, and a guy who hopefully won't have the types of off-field embarrassment that Rex did.

I think Arthur Smith could have also been that CEO type. He's had experience in all facets, not just offense. But Saleh has a certain energy to him that Smith doesn't have.

I agree about Brady.

 Thank you Adam Gase.

Thanks for whatever talk you had with Christopher Johnson to have him change everything behind the scenes and hire Joe Douglas. You were worth every penny, googly eyes and all.

Everything happens for a reason doesn't it? Here's to hoping great things are to come. Unfortunately crazy eyes will only be a footnote yet he was an integral part. My opinion may be unpopular but it's the truth.

You failed so hard, Gase, you made the boss question his own judgment. Well done!

Yeah I’m sure the Jets are leaking what they’re gonna due. All a smoke screen

Maybe - but if it is, it's the greatest smokescreen of all-time. We clearly have people on the board who talk to people and we know Schefter talks to people - everyone has the same scoop.

It's more likely to actually be the way the Jets are leaning right now as opposed to the most perfectly orchestrated smokescreen of all time.

Regardless, things are not set in stone. Plans change and there is a long way until the draft.

Ad hominem. What is he saying that is wrong?

The Jets have finished in last place 4 of the last 5 seasons in their division(except last year when they finished 3rd).

The Jets have the longest playoff drought in the NFL by far - 10 seasons, second closest is the Cardinals with 5 years.

The less said about the Johnsons, the better.

You have the worst QB in the NFL as your QB1 along with some of the worst offensive skill players in the league.

This is a horrible, horrible job and it will take a miracle worker to figure it out.

Based on cap room, draft capital, and young players in key spots, it was not one of the worst jobs. Saleh certainly didn't think it was.

The worst part of the job, honestly, may be the fan base.

Already saw a report that the Niners are expected to promote Ryans to their DC position.

That was probably the trade-off Saleh got with Shanahan.   I bet there was a gentlemen's agreement, "You can take LaFleur for your OC, but I can't let you walk away with the whole coaching staff.  I want to elevate Demeco Ryans to DC to keep some continuity here."

We’ll see. He’ll have to answer that question a whole lot in the next few days. And they still have a ton of work to do before the draft. A lot can happen.

All the top candidates were coordinators. This is the dumbest take ever.

That’s your take but I’m sure there’s a couple of current head coaches in the college ranks that are better qualified.

We’ll see. You cannot say that this decision isn’t a crapshoot.

But he deserves his chance, so no reason to be jumping for joy just yet.

Now Let’s see what they do with Sam, and let’s see if the organizational structure has changed. Let’s hope that ownership lets the football people make all the football decisions, sink or swim.

To be fair, JD and Saleh haven't said that, it was Shefter, but good point.

Say Darnold the starter and renege is not a good look.

Yeah, the fan base. Not the bottom 3 roster and bottom 3 ownership group. The fan base is what's holding the Jets back. Interesting take.
