Defensive draft coming ... I like this hire from an image standpoint .. guy is intense . Dont really know much about his HC qualifications .. hope you guys educate me a bit ... they had studs on D in SF .. we have Q and Maye. Hoping for the best ... won't upvote or downvote this yet... seems like a jacked Pete Carrol.

I actually think we have some excellent pieces on d. Especially d line. If we can just fill it wit pass rush, top tier corner and and another pass rush option at lb I think that d is potentially very good

"The second, and more important at the time, was Tony Oden. Oden was only at CMU for a month before jettisoning off to the NFL with the Houston Texans. But he and Saleh became fast friends and kept in touch.

Saleh's next move, albeit a brief one, was to Georgia in 2005. That's because a month into his time in Athens, Ga., Oden came calling with an opportunity in Houston. Saleh broke into the NFL with the Texans in the summer of 2005"

So does Saleh hire Tony Oden to be the new DC?

"Then Texans general manager Charley Casserly had taken a liking to Saleh and suggested to new head coach Gary Kubiak that he retain the young coach. Kubiak obliged and hired Saleh as a defensive quality control coach."

So, Casserly gave us Bowles & now in a round about way Saleh... hmmm... LOL... I am Super Pumped by this Hire & Hopefully Saleh will do Great. ?

Report: Joe Douglas had never met Robert Saleh prior to Jets interview

Joe Douglas opted to go with who he felt was the best candidate for the job over the buddy system when he hired Robert Saleh as Jets head coach Thursday night.

Instead of finding Adam Gase’s replacement within his NFL circle, Douglas kept an open-mind throughout New York’s search for a new head coach. Prior to Friday’s Zoom interview, Gang Green’s general manager had never met Robert Saleh, per Good Morning Football’s Peter Schrager. Past relationships did not play any part in Douglas’ hiring process, though, as the Jets brought Saleh to Florham Park for an in-person interview Tuesday and sealed the deal with him 48 hours later.

Per The Athletic’s Connor Hughes, Saleh was on New York’s initial list of candidates but was not at the top of the list until Douglas and company met him Friday. Thanks to his intensity and ability to change the culture of the team, Saleh won over the room and, ultimately, himself the gig.

Less than a week ago, Douglas didn’t know Saleh. Now, he is entrusting him to help him get the Jets out of the doldrums. Considering Saleh has energy and leadership skills to change the culture at One Jets Drive and comes with the reputation as one of the best defensive coaches in the NFL, early indications are that Douglas made the right call orchestrating an extensive search for New York’s next head coach and hiring outside of his individual comfort zone.

A big thanks to Christopher Johnson for allowing his GM to do his job. You really shouldn't be getting credit for doing the right thing, but based on how poorly you handled this organization for the past 4 years, this is encouraging. You also get credit for bringing in Joe Douglas. While JD hasn't been perfect, I still see enough to be optimistic about the future.

Saleh all the way to big things in New York.

Then when should you get it? ?

Forget the fact that you just hired a Defensive Coach in Year 2021.

Robert Saleh runs the same defense as Pete Carroll. Josh Allen and the Bills Offense is designed to obliterate that Defensive scheme into the sun.

Did you see what Josh Allen did to that defensive scheme this season?

Josh Allen vs Robert Saleh's Defense in 2020:

32/40 (80%)

375 yards (9.4 YPA)

4 TDs

0 INTs

139.1 Passer Rating

Josh Allen vs Robert Saleh's protege Pete Carroll's Defense in 2020:

31/38 (82%)

415 yards (10.9 YPA)

4 TDs

0 INTs

138.5 Passer Rating

Jets were like "Let's hire the 1 coach who matches up the absolute WORST with the top dog in our division"

This is why bad franchises stay bad. Because of illogical, nonsensical decisions like this.
