I will not even consider the possibility of Watson being traded to the Jets until after it happens. I don't want to have to deal with the disappointment of him being traded elsewhere or staying put.

Helping young players become better acclimated to a Saleh system...helping to “change the culture”...helping to create a more attractive destination by a respected vet.

Richard Sherman is still plenty capable of playing in a zone system and being effective.

Hes already being heard.

But I’m not talking about overpaying or giving him a lengthy deal, which I would hope JD has shown to be reasonable.

We were how much under the cap this year, and Sherman wouldn’t have made this a better secondary?

You don't need an overpriced, old Richard Sherman to change a culture. Is Richard Sherman the only guy who can help change the New York Jets? lol. That doesn't make sense. 

Sherman has spent his whole life on the west coast. If you are telling me that he's willing to move 3,000 miles to come play for a team that just went 2-14 on a team friendly contract, that's different. But I can't see him being all that interested.

By the time Sherman suits up for the Jets in September this would be 18 months ago, when Richard Sherman was younger and faster....

He's just past his prime. He's had a great career, but he doesn't offer much to a young team like the New York Jets except "mentorship" which lots of other guys can do.

Having a universally liked head coach, cap space, and multiple draft picks make NY the new hotspot. We would still have a decent amount of draft capitol even with a Watson trade.

I can't see any team offering better value than our offer of 3- #1 picks in consecutive years. Our picks would be higher than most anyone else. 

I would LOVE to see Jamaal's reaction knowing we flipped him to save $75 mil in cap space AND was able to use the picks we got for him into Deshaun Watson!!

That's the thing.  If we only have to give up 3 first rounders over the next 3 years (which I don't think will be enough) That still leaves us with 2 first rounders over the next 3 years...and a QB...For which we would have had to have used one of those.  It really isn't bad.

Getting into 4 firsts or 3 first and a second --- gets tougher to swallow.
