The Fat Man
When Oliver Celestin being released is the only headline the last few days you know the Jets have done a good job of shutting up Herman Edwards' old favorite news breakers. You remember that "Source Close to the Situation" and "Anonymous Team Official" became synonymous with the Edwards regime. Not anymore! One of the few offensive players that spoke out about Chad Pennington's injury problem was most certainly Pete Kendall. The Arizona Cardinals released Kendall less than three weeks after new coach Dennis Green installed the then eight-year veteran, as a starter, the move was related to player complaints about the intensity of summer workouts. As usual Kendall will not be a man and step up about saying anything. He did not take responsibility for throwing Dennis Green under the bus either and this cost the Cardinals a shortened camp because of it and he will not take responsibility for calling Pennington an egg...weakening Chad's leadership status. Rumors are circulating on message boards that the Jets may have a problem with tagging and trading the disgruntled LB/DE because of misuse of the franchise tag process. John Abraham continues to complain about everything NYJ. There is a reason the team staff is allowing him room to vent his avarice about a long term deal, they are using his words against him. He, and his agent have basically gone through every media outlet spreading the good cheer while the Jets staff plot his exit. Abraham has hurt me too many times for not showing up when it mattered the most...in the playoffs. 1 playoff appearance out of 6. Based on yesterdays press conference Chad Pennington is a different player than he was under Herman Edwards. I never remember hearing him say things like "Tom is going to look out for my best interests, and the Jets are going to look out for the organization
NIGHT STALKER
The 6-3, 251 pound Davis was clocked at 4.38 and 4.43 in the forty. Some scout had him timed at faster times than those - 4.34 and 4.36. Then he registed an impressive 42" vertical leap, and bench-pressed 225 pounds, 36 times, which is outstanding. "He has off-the-charts computer numbers," said ESPN's Mel Kiper. "He has a size/speed/strenght combination that is rarely found at his position." The Jets could use a difference-maker at tight end, and Davis has the earmarks of a potential superstar. Numbers, numbers, numbers...I admit, I don't know anything about this kid...my conern are two fold. Can he catch, and what are his YAC's? Jumping and running fast are cool if you're a track guy...what does he do with the ball?
Stonehands
Davis' off the charts athleticism sounds like the second coming of Johnnie Mitchell.
The Gun Of Bavaria
Vernon Davis would easily be the worst draft day move in recent memory. Get off the Davis tip
Sperm Edwards
"He has off-the-charts computer numbers," said ESPN's Mel Kiper. "He has a size/speed/strenght combination that is rarely found at his position." What does this guy ultimately do? Other than: 1) spout out combine #'s and rushing/sack totals that are readily available to anyone who's interested 2) overhype players whose agents gave him brown paper bags of money I'll stick with draftdaddy.com
The Fat Man
Vernon Davis would easily be the worst draft day move in recent memory. Get off the Davis tip Thank God you are not involved in the draft process. Jets dire need is TE which is a part of another dire need OL. You draft Davis in RD 1 and an OT in Rd 2. Your line will be solid for years. You are wrong and to think that the fastest TE in the history of the NFL cannot help your team ask San Diego and KC and the Giants how important it is to have a quality TE.
