Are there GM meetings coming up soon? I can see a trade ironed out at these meetings. Will be in principle only.... finalized on draft night unless Wilson or Fields gets run over by a bus or Watson gets hit. Houston/NY can’t risk a change in scenarios.

I need clarity on this. 
 

my understanding is he can be traded at anytime because he’s not FA. They don’t have to wait till March for new league year to start and FA to start correct? 
 

I’ll also add, next step is likely that Texans hire their HC before making any big decision on Watson.

If he does get traded, it'd have to be before the beginning of offseason. Both the Texans and Watsons new team will need a month or two to break-in their new QB, have him acclimatise to his new surroundings (get a house, settle in). Last minute trades aren't to the liking of either side.

You answered your own question. It can't happen, at least not officially, until St. Patrick's Day.

He can be traded "in principle" but it wouldn't become official until the start of the new league year on March 17th since the trade deadline has already passed.

As for when it will happen, it depends if the Jets like Watson or Lawrence more. If the Jets would love to get Lawrence then they may wait until Jacksonville makes their pick before pulling the trigger. If they like Watson more then they will get him in earlier than that so they can attract other FAs.
