The Eagles could go after C Kevin Mawae.

Mawae is likely to be traded or released by the Jets in the next couple days. If the Eagles were to acquire him, oft-injured Hank Fraley would be shown the door. Mar. 1 - 11:10 am et

From TODAY'S Newsday :

The ex-Pro Bowler (Mawae) is 35 years-old and has been given permission to seek a trade by the club. With his cap number standing at roughly $4.5 million, it's very likely he won't be a Jet next season.

The only reason I would keep Mawae is for some stability on that O line...you need to have some experience in there with this young line that will try to protect whoever is behind center.

Damn, I would hate to have another QB go down...talk about starting from the ashes.

Moore's been a starter for 2 years now, he's done a really good job and could possibly be the vet on that line by Training Camp!

I agree and we only save $1.1M by cutting him. Saving only that amount and having to sign another Center it makes sense to keep him around another year. Plus with hs attitude of not taking a pay cut to help the team, lets keep him around on another bad team next year anyway.

Yeah, I know. But, who would have thought a couple of years ago that Moore would be the veteran on this line in 2006? Damn, I may change my prediction of a winning team in two years to maybe year four. As you are well aware of, O and D lines take time and perhaps that's going to be the Magnini way.

Exactly. And if it comes to pass that they do have to cut or trade

him this will be the one that will come back to haunt them.

Just because Moore has been a two year starter does not mean that

he has the personality to be a leader. I don't know this for a fact

and I'm sure no one else on the board is familiar with him.

The OL this year will have to be introduced to each other and have

name tags on the front of their jerseys.

If their is no CBA by Thursday, the cuts will be brutal, unfortunately.
