It looks like the offseason of change for the Eagles is continuing full steam ahead. “Multiple teams” have contacted Philadelphia to express interest in trading for tight end Zach Ertz, and a deal “could happen in the coming days,” sources told Mike Silver of NFL Network.

These are two of the teams that Jets fans think we should emulate. Imagine dumping a first round pick after one year, then imagine trying to dump out of drafting Tua fifth overall after one year and still receiving positive media coverage.

Repped, because I often imagine dumps.

I would make that move in a second.  That we were not in the running says SEWELL . . . .

Just saying . . . .

I think it says more about Wilson than it does about any of our plans:

https://atozsportsnashville.com/tennessee-titans-isaiah-wilsons-long-list-of-off-the-field-issues/

July 28 — Titans place Wilson on Reserve/COVID-19 list for the first time (activated on Aug. 3)

At this point, the COVID/Reserve list was still relatively new to the NFL world.

Aug. 15 — Wilson nearly jumps off a two-story balcony to avoid the police at Tennessee State University
Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reported that Wilson broke TSU’s no-visitor policy and attended a party at the university. Police were called to the party at some point during the evening, and that’s when Wilson nearly leaped off a two-story balcony.

“Mr. Isaiah Wilson got up from the couch and ran to the balcony attempting to jump from the second floor,” the police report read.

Sept. 6 — Placed on Reserve/COVID-19 list for the second time, not activated until five weeks later
Just over a month after his first stint on the COVID list ended, Wilson found himself on it again.

While we don’t know whether Wilson tested positive for the coronavirus or was merely a close contact, we do know that he bizarrely spent over five weeks on the list; the Titans didn’t activate him until October 10.

Sept. 11 — Wilson crashes into a concrete wall with his vehicle, arrested for DUI
This one is the biggest doozy of them all.  Wilson was arrested for driving under the influence after being seen doing donuts and crashing into a concrete wall on Charlotte Avenue, a street near downtown Nashville, according to reports by the Associated Press and Buck Reising of A to Z Sports.

The Titans released a statement that read, “We are aware of the situation. This is not conduct that is indicative of the character of our football team and we are working through details on how to proceed.”

Oct. 23 — A to Z Sports report: Wilson missed multiple practices due to a “headache”
When Wilson finally got off of the COVID list for good, he began a routine of missing practices somewhat frequently.  One of the primary excuses he offered the Titans, according to a staff report by A to Z Sports, was that he had a “headache.”  That report included quotes from anonymous sources within the Titans organization referring to Wilson as “lazy,” “useless,” and as a “disaster.”

Oct. 27 — Involved in another auto accident that totaled his vehicle Wilson totaled his vehicle in late October after getting into another auto accident, Kuharsky reported.

Nov. 29 — Wilson makes his NFL debut against the Colts
Wilson finally made his NFL debut in the Titans’ late-November rout of the Colts. Wilson didn’t contribute to the victory, however, as he only played during extra-point attempts and kneel-downs at the end of the game.

Dec. 5 — Suspended by the Titans for violating team rules
Just a week after finally getting onto the field, Wilson’s self-destruction continued. The Titans suspended Wilson for one-game on Dec. 5 for a “violation of team rules.”  The specific violation that led to the suspension is still unknown.

Dec. 9 — Placed on “Reserve/Non-Football Illness”
The Titans ended Wilson’s rookie season in early December by placing him on the NFI list.

“Currently, he is dealing with some personal issues, which will take some time for him to work through,” general manager Jon Robinson said in a statement. “We will continue to help him and support him, with the hope that he can ultimately re-join the team.”

Jan. 1, 2021 — Spends New Year’s Eve partying on a boat.  As his Titans teammates prepared for a crucial Week 17 matchup with the Texans, Wilson spent his New Year’s Eve partying, according to a report by Buck Reising.

I was well aware of his remarkable stretch of Ryan Leaf like festivities.  As Dean Wormer said to Flounder "fat, lazy and stupid is no way to go through life son".

Nevertheless, the planet theory (there are a limited number of people on the planet who weigh 300 lbs and can run - George Young) dictates that people who grow to his size and remain athletic are rare.  Only so many are produced each year and are highly sought after in the NFL.  Certainly worth a late round flyer, unless of course the tackle spots are going to be filled for the next decade.

I reiterate, I would love to trade down, but doubt we will get a bona fide offer.

As for the Fins, it is a curious move.  They just took three offensive lineman.  A first (Jackson), a high second (Hunt) and a fourth (Kindley).  Kindley was a stud.  I guess Wilson is destined for tackle.  Some young stiff competition.  I suppose they will move Hunt to guard.  Ourlads doubted Hunt could stay at tackle but the Fins did play him there.  Still, lots of good young lineman with potential on the Fins.

The solid choice is Sewell.  Sorry.

It's is and move Becton to right tackle but in 2/3 years time will we lose becton because he wants to play on the left side for the extra money as we seen happen in Baltimore this off season.

Is there an updated list of FA’s now that franchise rates are being handed out.

I kind of always expected the best FA we WRs we might have a shot at the be Juju and Curtis Samuel. Neither of which satisfies the need for a #1, but will get paid like it.

Tom it doesn't fit the Media's narrative we all know the Jets are Sh*t and every other team are head and shoulders above them every year. The fact that Wilson went to Flores HS is a reason to trade for him is a joke and the Media always ballwashes the Fins.

Josh Reynolds and Curtis Samuel. Those are two guys I think you go get, ignore Juju. Assume Godwin, Golladay, etc are all franchised.

Go into the draft with them, plus Mims - then look to the draft to fill out the position group. I don’t know Criweders status, but if we move Sam - then Crowder becomes less of an asset.

Jets' Top Players to Prioritize in 2021 NFL Free Agency

JAKE RILLMARCH 8, 202114

ASHLEY LANDIS/ASSOCIATED PRESS

THE START OF NFL FREE AGENCY IS QUICKLY APPROACHING ON MARCH 17, AND THAT'S WHEN THE NEW YORK JETS WILL BEGIN TO TRY TO COMPLEMENT SOME OF THEIR YOUNG PLAYERS WITH VETERANS WHO CAN HELP THEM TRY TO TURN THE CORNER.

AFTER GOING 2-14 LAST SEASON, THE JETS ARE HEADING INTO A NEW ERA AFTER HIRING ROBERT SALEH AS HEAD COACH IN JANUARY.

NEW YORK ALSO HAS A TON OF FINANCIAL FLEXIBILITY THIS OFFSEASON. ASSUMING THE NFL SALARY CAP WILL BE AROUND $180.5 MILLION, IT WOULD CURRENTLY HAVE A LITTLE MORE THAN $77 MILLION IN CAP SPACE, PER OVER THE CAP, WHICH WOULD BE THE SECOND MOST IN THE LEAGUE.

BUT HOW WILL NEW YORK OPT TO SPEND ITS MONEY? IS IT COMMITTED TO SAM DARNOLD AT QUARTERBACK, AND HOW COULD THAT DECISION SHAPE ITS OFFSEASON MOVES? THE JETS HAVE HAD FIVE STRAIGHT LOSING SEASONS AND LAST REACHED THE PLAYOFFS IN 2010, AND THIS OFFSEASON COULD HELP DETERMINE WHETHER THEY'RE CLOSE TO ENDING THAT DROUGHT.

HERE'S A LOOK AT THREE PLAYERS NEW YORK SHOULD PRIORITIZE DURING THIS YEAR'S FREE-AGENCY PERIOD.

00:05 / 00:15

Marcus Maye, FS

1 OF 3

CHARLES KRUPA/ASSOCIATED PRESS

MARCUS MAYE IS THE BEST PLAYER ON THE JETS' 2020 ROSTER WHO IS NOW A FREE AGENT, AND THEY NEED TO FOCUS ON BRINGING HIM BACK FOR 2021.

THE SAFETY, WHO TURNS 28 TUESDAY, HAS SPENT HIS FIRST FOUR NFL SEASONS WITH NEW YORK AND HAS BEEN A CONSISTENT PRESENCE IN ITS SECONDARY, STARTING ALL 16 GAMES IN THREE OF THEM (INCLUDING BOTH 2019 AND 2020).

THIS PAST SEASON, MAYE HAD HIS BEST SHOWING YET, POSTING CAREER HIGHS IN TACKLES (88), PASS DEFLECTIONS (11), SACKS (TWO), FORCED FUMBLES (TWO) AND FUMBLE RECOVERIES (ONE), WHILE ALSO TYING A CAREER BEST WITH TWO INTERCEPTIONS. A SECOND-ROUND SELECTION IN THE 2017 NFL DRAFT, HE MAY NOW BE ENTERING HIS PRIME.

AND THE JETS AREN'T HIDING THE FACT THAT THEY WANT MAYE BACK TO CONTINUE TO BE A DEFENSIVE LEADER.

"WE HAVE HAD PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS WITH HIS REPRESENTATIVES," GENERAL MANAGER JOE DOUGLAS SAID, PER ETHAN GREENBERG OF THE TEAM'S OFFICIAL SITE. "OUR STANCE ON MARCUS HASN'T CHANGED AS WELL. MARCUS IS A VALUABLE MEMBER OF THIS ORGANIZATION. SOMEONE THAT STARTED HIS CAREER HERE, SOMEONE THAT'S BEEN A PRO'S PRO. HE'S SMART, RELIABLE AND HAS PROVIDED OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP. OUR PLAN HASN'T CHANGED. WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF WORKING TO HAVE MARCUS BE HERE LONG TERM."

THAT'S THE RIGHT DECISION, AND IT'S A MOVE THE JETS SHOULD FOCUS ON GETTING DONE QUICKLY.

Will Fuller V, WR

2 OF 3

PAUL SANCYA/ASSOCIATED PRESS

WHETHER OR NOT DARNOLD IS THE JETS' QUARTERBACK IN 2021 AND BEYOND, THEY STILL NEED MORE OFFENSIVE PLAYMAKERS TO HELP OUT WHOEVER IS UNDER CENTER. THAT'S WHY NEW YORK NEEDS TO SIGN ONE OF THE TOP AVAILABLE FREE-AGENT WIDE RECEIVERS, OF WHICH THERE ARE QUITE A FEW.

ESPN'S JEREMY FOWLER TOLD SPORTSCENTER LAST MONTH THAT WILL FULLER V IS "MOVING ON" FROM THE HOUSTON TEXANS AND THE JETS WERE ONE OF THE TEAMS EVALUATING THE RECEIVER.

FOWLER ALSO NOTED THAT NEW YORK IS SEEKING "YARDS-AFTER-CATCH ABILITY" AND "SPEED ON THE PERIMETER," WHICH THE 26-YEAR-OLD COULD BRING TO ITS OFFENSE.

ALTHOUGH FULLER WILL MISS THE FIRST GAME OF THE 2021 SEASON DUE TO A SIX-GAME SUSPENSION HE RECEIVED FOR VIOLATING THE NFL'S POLICY ON PERFORMANCE-ENHANCING DRUGS, HE COULD BE A STRONG ADDITION IF HE PLAYS THE WAY HE DID FOR THE FIRST 11 GAMES OF LAST SEASON. DURING THAT STRETCH, HE SET CAREER HIGHS IN RECEPTIONS (53), YARDS (879) AND TOUCHDOWNS (EIGHT).

IF FULLER JOINED A JETS RECEIVING CORPS THAT ALREADY INCLUDES JAMISON CROWDER AND DENZEL MIMS, THEN THEIR OFFENSE COULD MAKE BIG STRIDES DURING THE UPCOMING SEASON.

Joe Thuney, OG

3 OF 3

REED HOFFMANN/ASSOCIATED PRESS

THE JETS' OFFENSIVE LINE IS ON THE RISE. THEY ADDED A FRANCHISE LEFT TACKLE IN MEKHI BECTON WITH THE NO. 11 OVERALL PICK IN THE 2020 NFL DRAFT TO WORK ALONGSIDE SOME OTHER SOLID PLAYERS UP FRONT, SUCH AS TACKLE GEORGE FANT AND CENTER CONNOR MCGOVERN.

BUT NEW YORK'S O-LINE COULD REACH ANOTHER LEVEL IF IT IMPROVES AT GUARD, AND THERE'S NO BETTER PLAYER AVAILABLE AT THE POSITION IN FREE AGENCY THIS YEAR THAN JOE THUNEY.

THE 28-YEAR-OLD HAS SPENT HIS FIRST FIVE NFL SEASONS WITH THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS, PLAYING LAST YEAR ON THE FRANCHISE TAG. BUT IT'S UNLIKELY HE  WILL BE TAGGED AGAIN THIS OFFSEASON, MEANING HE COULD BE JOINING A NEW TEAM FOR THE FIRST TIME.

THUNEY HASN'T MISSED A GAME SINCE ENTERING THE LEAGUE AS A THIRD-ROUND PICK OF NEW ENGLAND IN THE 2016 NFL DRAFT. THAT'S LIKELY A BIG REASON WHY SPOTRAC HAS GIVEN HIM A PROJECTED MARKET VALUE OF A $15.3 MILLION ANNUAL AVERAGE SALARY, AS HE'S A STRONG, CONSISTENT PLAYER UP FRONT.

BUT THE JETS HAVE THE CAP SPACE TO ADD THE NORTH CAROLINA STATE PRODUCT, WHICH WOULD ALSO PREVENT HIM FROM RETURNING TO THE PATRIOTS, THEIR AFC EAST RIVAL, OR ANOTHER TEAM.

WITH BECTON AND THUNEY POTENTIALLY ON THE LEFT SIDE OF NEW YORK'S OFFENSIVE LINE, IT COULD HAVE GREAT PROTECTION THAT WOULD HELP ITS OFFENSE QUICKLY IMPROVE.

Agree

I prefer they draft Etienne or Harris and drastically improve the RB position here.

Prepare for disappointment. The Shanahan offense does not require investing high picks or big FA dollars in RBs. The Jets aren't taking a back before round 3, and probably not even then

Consistently competitive franchise decides that AVG wide receiver isn't worth the contract he is crying for ... lets him walk ... never fear ... there is a sucker green franchise in the waiting.

I mean we all saw JuJu suck this past year and disappear. I cant imagine that Joe D is going to pay him moeny and bring him here.

TO Clarify JuJu is better than all of our WR no doubt, but he is 2 not worth paying number 1 money too. Also suffers from the cant get open disease that our current WR room suffers from. We need to let this one go somewhere else.

Perhaps Douglas can make a run at Andre Dillard who has had a rough time up in Philly.  Former first round pick that got injured last year and there were talks of the Eagles trying to trade him last year.  Sending the Eagles a 7th for Dillard who can sit behind Fant for a year and take over long term might be a good investment.  He can join former Washington State teammate Frankie Luvu.

Preston Smith is a good fit.  I wonder what they want?  A late round pick is a no brainer.  If they want first three rounds, I would rather draft a player.

I also like Njoku as a reclamation project if the price was right.

Then we can have two athletic underachieving  tight ends on the roster.  Pass.

32 years old.  Out of football for a year.  Has not played more than 10 games in a season since 2015.  What could possibly go wrong?

Sure hope Douglas learned his lesson after the Kalil debacle.
