Had Leo gotten free he would have gotten even more.  He is a bona fide two-gap end for a 3-4 who can play inside or out on a 4-3 line.  That versatility means he can start for any team in the league and upgrade their line.  I wish him well and remind everybody that he is a ten year starter in the NFL.  We got weaker when he left.  And I contend he LEFT.  We did not give up on him or decide he was not worth resigning.  He made it clear that he was LEAVING.  Harsh but true.  We have paid a price for being poorly run.  I wish it was not so.

Leonard was a prime trade candidate in 2019 prior to drafting Quinnen. No idea why McCagnan didn’t pull the trigger.

you saw the super bowl right? imagine if Mahomes didn't have a line every single week, then take away all this talented WRs...oh and no TE oh and have gase coach? YOu think Mahomes would win? sure he probably would have wont he same games Sam did, maybe a few more, but he would look like trash and just every know and then make a play work while running for his life and getting knocked around.

The reason people like sam is because he is very talented, it literally takes no complex thought or training to see his talent. He has made plays and made people around him look good at times, but that was not the case, his team was terrible and the people he threw to were terrible, the plays and line were all ....yup you guessed it terrible...i.e. all the drops and most interceptions..

I read your comments and just wonder if you have watched any of the games. Because it doesnt seem like you did. Most people that evaluate talent will all tell you the kid never got a fair shot, right or wrong doesnt mattter, it is what it is, but when people say you know, Sam just needs a change of scenery, a new team to give him a second chance. a team with a little protection, some talent on the offensive side of the ball and some good coaching will do him good.

Well Saleh and Joe think that second team is the NY Jets. Think about. new coaching, plays desinged to help him and at least now 2 WR that are big and can catch the damn ball. Its a pretty good start and we are only in day to of FA.

Sam might still be a bust, gase may have broke him with his stupid ass coaching, but my guess is he will be fine and rebound just like Tannehill in Tenn.

Have you watched film of Sam making the wrong read with plenty of time to throw. Have you watched him not pull the trigger on an open big play and dumping it off? Did you see Flacco have more success - our line started to come together later in the year and Mims, Perriman and Crowder were playing well. You can't kick the can down the road for a QB when you can pick one up now. We still have lots of cash and way more picks than most teams in the next two years. We don't need to acquire picks just for the sake of acquiring picks. This team will be very competitive next year with good QB play. If you wait then you will be squandering assets because next year we won't be drafting as high. The #8 pick isn't going to do it if you need a QB, especially in a much weaker QB class. There may only be 1 worthy of a high pick next year or one graded as highly as any of the top 4 QBs this year.

This whole idea of collecting more picks and continually trading down while ignoring the Qb position is crazy..

Build the team out first and continue to search for a Qb gets you where the Bears are..

Solid roster but going absolutely nowhere because of how hard it is to find a franchise QB.

Exactly. And then you have to wait for the QB to catch up - that takes a few years. It's not a smart way to do it IMO.

Both last years super bowl winner and the one before built their teams 1st.

It is the complete opposite, if you put a new QB on a talentless bad team he often fails.

Also you can do both, look at Douglas's mentor Ozzie newsome got both Flacco and Lamar jackson by trading down

It’s actually pretty smart bringing in Tyrod, that pretty much assures you will find your long term answer to QB either this season or the next.  Look at his recent history.  Guy is a lucky charm if you’re going to draft a QB.

also interesting because I believe tyrod and watson have been training together in atl.

Nice info. Thanks.  No idea but to me he looked alittle heavy last season. Considering his quad problems it wouldn't be a surprise.

The guy has a strange build.  From the knees up he is a defensive lineman.  Really jacked.   From the knees down he is the basketball player he used to be.  He is very quick but was never going to be the rush linebacker that many Jet fans wanted.    There was always hope for the third down pass rush package on a four man line.

Throw Buffalo in there as well.

Pretty sure if there were at 2 with a promising QB prospect they wouldn’t be trading out. No team would this league values QBs to much
