Both last years super bowl winner and the one before built their teams 1st.

It is the complete opposite, if you put a new QB on a talentless bad team he often fails.

Also you can do both, look at Douglas's mentor Ozzie newsome got both Flacco and Lamar jackson by trading down

Ummm, no. Tampa picked a QB #1 - just didn't work out. KC had a top QB in the NFL for a couple of years AND had his replacement in place - so they were prepared with two QBs, not just one. Neither team was built before the QB got there.

Tampa failed with jamies, KC failed with alex smith.

both teams were essentially built when they added the right Qb to win it all.

Adding a fresh in the league hot shot high draft and then putting him on a team like the jets gets you sam darnold.

The jets need talent all over the roster.

There will be QBs next year whether it be via trade, fa or going up to get one.

There’s more then one way to skin a cat but I’ll put it this way.

If there is a QB you love at 2 and are convinced he’s a future franchise QB you take him no questions asked..

You don’t trade down and wait another  year when the QB class might be weaker and you won’t be picking nearly as high.

There’s franchises who’ve been looking for a franchise QB for generations is being one of them..

Dont pass up the opportunity if you love a QB

I can't post it right now but you should look at the Bills roster in 2018. They built a team after they got their QB.

Correct.  In 2018 their offense looked a lot like ours did the last two years.

Fun fact:  Nathan Peterman had a higher Comp% than Josh Allen in 2018.  Just let that one rattle round in your head for a bit.

Sounds like the WR market is quiet. Would love it if they can snag Samuel soon.

Please god - I hope JD sees the opportunity here and even pays up a little for samuel, even if its a one year deal.  Then you can go into the draft and not focus on WR whatsoever.

As for Ertz, why would we give up a 3rd round pick so that we have to then address the position in 2 years when we could draft Tommy Tremble from ND who is really versatile or Hunter Long from BC who is solid, not spectacular, as a blocker and receiver and possibly solidify the spot for then next 4+ years?

The problem is you’re misconstruing opportunity to get a QB with building before getting the QB. If the Mahomes opportunity came earlier the Chiefs would’ve pounced regardless of the current state of the team.

many of you are really undervaluing how this league views QBs

Just curious about needing talent all over the roster.

If the Jets do draft a QB at 2 and between the draft and FA pick up a RB (Carson or jamal williams), keep Van Roten as one guard with Clarke competing and draft Vera-Tucker or Wyatt Davis at 23, add a CB at 34 and find a TE in the 3rd round to pair with Herndon is that offense really devoid of talent?

When Sam was the QB, the jets had an oline of Beachem-Lewis-ryan kahil-RG (i cant even remember)-Brandon Shell.  With Ryan Griffin at TE, Crowder, Demarious Thomas and Robby at WR and Bell as RB.  Plus the coach was arguably the one of the worst in NFL history.  That group is far different then what we would be giving fields or zach wilson, is it not?
