Someone is bound to counter with the competition level argument but boy is that a bad one. These stats are a numerical demonstration of good QB habits situationally.

Funny thing is, level of competition has little to no correlation with pro success. Plus there's hundreds of QBs who face lesser competition every year and don't put up what Wilson did. It's not like he had just a good season. The guy posted the highest non-SEC QB rating in college history with the highest PFF grade ever to boot.

I feel like some people just don't want to like him, that's fine. Whatever happens, happens.

*If* the Texans traded Watson, Carolina is the team. They will outbid everyone (will go 4-first round picks), they will offer starters/recent high draft picks, and for HOU they get Deshaun out of the conference and can spend the next few years blowing it up/rebuilding the entire roster.

I know people think “well the Jets have the 2nd pick... it’s so much more valueable!”

For one, Houston knows they have a multi-year rebuild ahead of them, and given the state of the roster, drafting a QB can backfire horribly (see Darnold, Carr). Secondly, Caserio wants to build around the QB, not necessarily through; if they keep Deshaun the intent is obviously to build around him, but if they lose him I don’t think his roster building strategy changes—he’ll seek to build around the position before investing high draft capital/money in a new QB.

Having a young franchise QB to sell is a big deal when you lose a Watson.

Or as somebody said that 2 pick is so valuable you can get more assets.

The bottom line is IF Douglas is willing to go all in the Jets have a lot more assets to give then the Panthers.

Lastly who ones what Caserio really wants to do yet in terms of team building?

Its like the people  who act like they know what approach Douglas has

Of all the franchise QBs like Mahomes, Manning, Brady, Brees, Montana -- none that them had all or one of these. They all won with different qualities... but they all had 1 thing in common

  • Can handle/manipulate pressure - in the pocket or out.

Dealing with the pressure is only thing these guys all had. ... and what is the ONE thing we don't now about Zach fcking Wilson

  • Can he handle pressure

*shake my damn head*

That Coastal Carolina game he was under a good deal of pressure, got hit a lot, and still played well. And that was considered his 'bad' game.

The more I read, listen and watch about the kid, the more I'm open to drafting him.

I always like your takes, if you watch the Coastal Carolina game, I'd be interested in what you think.

Wilson has a bad day on the Whiteboard and interviews.  I think Wilson crushes these, but Fields is a bright kid with an excellent attitude.

Is there any concern that Wilson is an entitled douche?

Also far and away the best 2nd read thrower in the class. He also placed top with regards to tight window throws. He can play.

0.0 turnover wrthy play % under press. (1st)  Yeah, looks like he is under terrible pressure!! Not a defensemen in 15 yards!!

Fields was pressured on 29.9% of drop backs to Wilson’s 22.2%of drop backs according to PFF. Derrick Klassen has Fields at 21.73% and Wilson at 16.4%. Neither is really “battle tested.”

Wait till they play behind Chuma Edoga and Greg Van Rotten on 3rd and 17

Josh Allen smashes all of the typical QB nitpicking.  Other than his frame and arm
there was nothing to "love" about him coming out:

- He played at a small school (Wyoming)
- He wasn't accurate
- He didn't play a tough schedule
- When he did play tougher teams he played poorly

But with good coaching he was an MVP candidate in 2020.  If you don't like a particular
QB, just say it.  Stop trying to come up with some narrative because with a little
research it can easily be shattered

Allen was a physical specimen.  Literally the most athletic college qb since Cam Newton

Call it cherry picking if you will but here’s some NFL SEC QB’s:

Tua

Hurts

Fromm

Tebow

AJ McCarron

Aaron Murray

Greg McElroy

Ryan Mallet

Zach Mettenberger

Jamarcus Russell

Jared Stidham

Vince Young

Jay Cutler

Tyler Bray

Josh Allen can from the mountain division where he performed horridly. Lamar Jackson is from the ACC, Watson, Trevor, who does Clemson even play before they make the playoffs? Mahomes is from Texas Tech, Herbert went to Oregon, Murray and Baker played in a conference where defense is imaginary. Romo came from Eastern Illinois.

it just doesn’t even matter. What matters is who you are as a QB habitually, what are your habits, how do you go about pressure, studying, training, reading defenses (even if lesser competition) still, how do you go about reading them? It all matters more.

To @Paradis point, Josh Allen is fearless under pressure.

Are you referring the picture from 2019 that doesn't relate to the numbers above?
