Just for me personally, I think we should build up the OL and give Sweet Sammy another shot, we can always trade for a 25-year-old top-5 QB a year from now. JMO

Congratulations to the Miami Dolphins.

That is Adams' narrative.  We weren't there.  Don't be so sure that Adams and agent aren't lying.  They've done so many times already.  #gullibleBit

We weren't there for Watson promise to be considered during the gm process either

That's Watson's narrative

It seems gullible to believe Watson but disbelieve Adams. These are the exact same situations, except for Watson already getting a top 5 qb contract.

We want to believe Watson is good and we want to believe Adams is bad. These men both did not want to honor their contracts, bottom line.

If anything Adams had a stronger case. At least Watson got paid.

You’ll note that the Seahawks also promised to pay Adams and they have not.

I tend to agree.  They also both have cited ownership as problems.  Jamal was critical of Woody when those stories about the comments he made in Europe became public.  A few days later Jamal was traded.   The playbooks are similar, were just not as far along in the Deshaun saga yet.

Huh. Darnold’s play and production look exactly like a QB who’s lost his confidence. If it’s not a confidence issue, then it’s an ability issue, and in either case, he’s doomed.

Forgetting even just specific to Watson, seeing any Jets fan hypothesizing the supposed brilliance of very deliberately building up your team for everything but QB has to be the most laughable concept ever.  As if we haven't repeatedly watched some of the most talented rosters in team history get dragged down by mediocrity (at best) at the game's single most important position.

Sure, let's just casually suggest that the Jets can sort that little franchise QB acquisition thing all out whenever they happen to get to it.  I mean, it's not like that's something they have never once successfully accomplished since the merger.

This Jets team is not mediocre though. They are terrible. Especially on offense. The jets would ruin Watson, Trevor, whoever at this point. They are like a house that had the copper stripped from the walls.

Adams does not seem concerned. But if it continues he will do it again and mercenary his way to another team

Just like how Watson gets traded to new york could just shoot his way out again

When people go out of their way to tell us who they really are, the least we can do is listen

The highest paid Jets player of all time is cj mosely maybe 16 mil

They are going pay Watson 35? Gtfo

Believe that when you see it

You have to pay to the cap.

Woody cut huge checks for old Revis, old Leveon, and tons of other crap contracts.   He has to spend to a salary floor.   This notion that owners are cheap towards salary doesn't really wash, it's not baseball where they can spend 30 million on total payroll.

The distance between the floor and the cap is like 20 million a year. They can fund a team 93 percent that's legal but it's the bare minimum of trying

To repeat the Jets have never paid a player over 20. Watsons deal means woody has to cut a 2 million dollar check every week for 16 weeks. That's like double Revis or double bell

Again, believe that when you see it

If Watson comes to the Jets, it’s because he’ll have actively picked NY and Robert Saleh, and he already has a contract in hand. If Adams leaves the Seahawks, it’ll be because the Seahawks realized how badly they got burned by trading premium assets for an extremely limited and, now, injury prone player whom nobody likes.

He does suck that's the point they don't need studs at guards to play next to the studs at tackle. Cam Clark and Conor McDermott could be the guards and it would be a top 10 line

Thuney by the way will make more money than Sewell on the rookie deal. Not great value and not really a move for a team this far from contending

Disagree. Our interior Dline played terrible in 2020. Upgrades needed. We have the free agent & draft assets to finish the Oline in 2021 so the offense can be put in & running smoothly as quick as possible.

What in the.....?

Maybe its because the Jets never drafted any talent worth a big payday over 20 million? ESPECIALLY at QB.

Watson is a premium player at a premium position and will get paid as such by whoever he plays for. And I don't doubt for a second Woody wouldn't mind ponying up the price tag for him should he choose to play for the Jets.

There is no way in the world the Seahawks don't know they were hoodwinked. They let the Media drum beating narrative on Jamal Adams being this Lawrence Taylor type player shade the truth about Adams, the guy is absolutely atrocious in space & is targeted by any team with good skill players! Hell, Gronkowski was smoking him the year the Patriots knew his best was pretty much behind him him now.

Every single player he was matched up with vs the Rams took him to the woodshed, and the Rams Oline stoned him for the most part when he stuck his nose into the backfield.

James ihedibo was a better cover safety in the short areas than Jamal Adams & my son in law played Lacrosse with ihedibo in Western Massachusetts. (Said James was a helluva an athlete!).

It's a salary cap sport, every year Woody is cutting ~$200m worth of checks. Adding Watson would just be apart of that mass of money. If anything signing one big fish in Watson could influence other players to take less but either way it's the same-ish cap.

Watson shooting his way out of Houston is like a person leaving their marriage. There's no guarantee they don't do the exact same thing in New York. In fact it's a pattern of behavior. Contrary to @Sperm Edwards logic of he can't cry wolf twice, Watson absolutely could shoot his way out of New York in 2 years. What's to stop him? His loyalty to the new york area?

Guarantee? There’s no guarantee he won’t get hit by a bus. You’re advocating the team stupidly use the #2 pick on another left tackle, but people don’t come at you with, “Oh yeah, well what if he sits out another season?”

He can get away with it once specifically because he’s got a clean slate. He gets a benefit of the doubt specifically because it’s out of character for him, and that’s the only reason he’s getting such sympathy. If he tries it again he’s not getting a country full of support behind him. He knows that, even if you don’t.

One time, then it’s shame on them. A second time, then it’s shame on him. If you can’t understand the difference, that that’s on you.

Or you’re just being contrarian for spite after badly losing so many arguments lol.

Not really I support Adams and his campaign to build a life boat off of the gase titanic. They should have paid him.

But I'm really interested how the rest of the the board can hate Adams and love Watson for doing the same thing.

Watson gets more style points for doing it through his agents but it feels like an awful lot of people who hated Jamal Adams for shooting his way out of New York loves Watson for shooting his way out of Houston

I think Alanis Morissette wrote a whole song about it

I’ve been getting articles in my Google feed about Adams in Seattle and it looks like they’re headed toward dropping the franchise tag on him, at best. He was terrible, the fans know he was terrible and cost them their playoff game, and Jamal’s whole social media message since has been about how injured he was all year, as though that’s something you want to advertise when looking for a long-term deal.

Not really. Last year they cut like 120 million in checks and traded a bunch of assets to create dead cap. Cutting quincy enunwa is not the same as roster spend. The jets spent like 50 or 60 million less than the cap on the 2020 roster

Outside of a Deshaun trade, which you said to forget about for a moment, how are you addressing that problem?

Furthermore I don't think they will either, Especially for a Safety that cant cover and can only rush the QB and he doesn't do that particular great either. The media hype on Adams is ridiculous praising him like he is an Ed Reed haha.

The 2004 AFC playoff bracket had four of the top ten quarterbacks of all time. The Jets brought Chad Pennington to a gunfight and hilarity predictably ensued. Did they learn? No, they ran it back and everybody got fired. Did they learn then? No, they screwed around for three years before taking Sanchez, who got everybody fired again. Did they learn then? No, Idzik screwed around for two years and got fired. Did they learn then? No, they screwed around for three years before shipping four high draft picks for QBTBNL. On whom they are about to waste yet another season in the third year of the next regime.

The Jets don't care who the quarterback is, presumably because they've made a determination that it doesn't affect the bottom line. I'm less clear on why fans don't think it matters who the quarterback is.

You gotta give the dude credit though. Before he was drafted the Media idiots were touting this guy as a true leader of men. It was like telephone line, the Adams persona grew larger & wider approaching the draft & just like everyone else who truly knows nothing except what you hear, when he was there at 6 I wanted the QB (Watson), but when we took Adams I was like, well, at least we got the best college player overall 😲

This guy manipulated the media like a pro, from tackling the Patriot mascot to having the New York Post & Daily News beat writers exclaiming that it was madness to trade the great Jamal Adams! We had guys on this board killing JD for even contemplating trading this defensive jewel.

Turns out that trade was the heist of last decade in the NFL. If JD can turn this organization around with the assets he obtained for basically a small linebacker like Dion Jones, it will be the best trade in the history of the Jets.

Just because you think it's stupid is not a debate tactic

Sewell sat out to get paid. Adams did it for money too

Watson is shooting his way out of Houston despite just getting paid. What the heck is this man's problem? He's making more than 2 million dollars per game

Out of character? He's 25. This is his character.

Here's the situation: Jets fans spent months dreaming about the luscious locks of Trevor and we've been rebounding in every direction since the rams game

Hey now the dream is over

They can get a qb in 22 or whatever.

Coach Saleh has said there are no shortcuts every time he gets in front of the media

Let it go Sperm there's not going to be a Watson trade and a Robinson thuney binge. None of this is going to happen.
