Now that's what I call backdoor negotiating! Get some mouth piece outside the organization funnel the narrative that the organization wants to put out to drum up interest. It wouldn't surprize me if JD told Casario that he won't be getting in a bidding war. He made an offer and the two sides agreed to talk at a later date so Houston would see if any team would beat Jets offer.

Also may I add they apparently have done some scouting of the QB class now and they like someone

Too long for my attention - what was said

He games out how the Watson situation is going to proceed, particularly now that the Super Bowl is over and everyone is looking for the next story, and he opines that Joe Douglas should keep up the pressure on the Texans for when Nick Caserio eventually concedes that he has to deal Watson.

Nothing earth shattering.

Texans team president resigned.  He was part of committee to hire new GM, but felt his voice was ignored.  Team wanted him to stay to avoid further perception of disfunction.  Too late for that .  New GM.  New coach.  QB won't talk to either guy.  Unprecedented situation -- young, talented QB, just signed extension, refusing to play for team.  If Deshaun breaks his silence with media, Texans will have no choice but to make deal.  JD should be on phone with Caserio trying to make deal.

Maybe. This could also be a message to Miami to up the offer.

Miami’s problem is that they can’t promise the Texans that Zack Wilson will be on the board for them, which leaves them with either Tua or Justin Fields. The Texans might not find that tradeoff compelling at all, which gives the Jets all the leverage

Personally, I think it’d be a mistake for Watson to do an interview. The media would instantly turn him into the sole villain of this story. Whoever is doing the slow-drip of these Easterby stories is doing the legwork/extortion for him

I agree with you.  He shoudl just keep quiet, he does not need to do anything until training camp.  It is the Texans who have a deadline of the draft to get something done. or call his bluff.  No reason for Deshaun to react until after the draft, if he is still a Texan.

In this day and age you think Watson would be painted a villain??? 🤔
