Two first round picks including #2
Two second round picks
One third round pick
Q Williams (#3 overall pick from two years ago, rising star in the NFL)
Sam Darnold

Please just make the insanity stop.

No one outside of maybe Peter King and a couple other mouth breathing "journalists" actually think this would be the kind of trade package that gets Watson to NY.

The # 2 pick is the real prize for Houston, and Joe Douglas will be well aware of this.  Should the Texans make a trade with any other team, their next step would likely be looking to trade up to 2 with us.

Man, this is such a rare opportunity. This is like being in Applebee’s in midtown one night and Rihanna—for some weird fucjing reason—is there and she decides she wants to bang you, but you only have that thirty seconds to decide what to do. Sure, your wife will divorce you and, yeah, your kids are outside in the car waiting for you to come back with the to-go order, and you’re parked in a handicap spot with the engine running, but on the other hand it’s Rihanna and you will never, ever, EVER get this kind of opportunity again. There really is no choice to be made when fate calls you home

QB A his first three years as a starter: 13,176 yards, 81 tds, 36 ints  (Cousins)

QB B his first three years as a starter: 12,840 yards, 85 tds, 28 ints (Watson)

QB C his first three years as a starter: 14,635 yards, 90 tds, 32 ints (Stafford)

But 100% for sure Watson will immediately make the jets really good with no high draft resources to improve the team.

But....but.....Houston was a 4 win team even with him being good!   "Not his fault they had a bad defense and no weapons'

Fair enough, but the national narrative has been set.  The Houston Texans and their fans read these articles too.  They are not going to accept anything less than an absolute haul because doing so would be a total PR nightmare.

The more of these articles that come out, the less of a chance that Watson gets traded.  No team in their right mind is going to give up the type of compensation being tossed around out there.

Completely agree. This idea that the Texans are in a desperate spot with 20+ teams bidding is mindless

Haha, I don’t see anyone talking about Watson’s weapons, but he did have a terrible o-line. Those 3 years were cousins’ age 27, 28, and 29 seasons. Watson also had 1400 rushing yards, 15 rushing tds, and the highest all time completion percentage and 2nd highest all time qb rating, and won 2 division titles in that stretch while the other 2 combined for 1 division title.

no one is suggesting the Jets trade away all of their high draft resources either.

Actually the biggest proponents are suggesting just that and adding quinnen williams to the pot.

I see some ridiculous trades out there, but that's only a few people.  I think that, unless the Texans think they can build around Tua, a package of #2, #34, '22 1st, and '23 1st would get it done.  If the Jets can then trade Darnold for a 2nd round pick, the Jets would have at least 1 pick in each of the 7 rounds this year and next year, including 5 of the top 100 in this year's draft.

The only way the Texans get a top 3 QB this year is with the #2 pick.  Justin Fields is represented by Watson's agent, and Lawrence, Fields, and Wilson are the consensus top 3.

What is your limit.  Lay it on the line big fella.  Exactly what are you willing to give up to get Watson.

2021: #2, #23

2022: First round pick, Second round pick. If necessary, a third rounder.

After trading Darnold, you recoup at least a second rounder, which leaves you with:

2021: #34, #66, #87, etc and sh*tload of cap space

2022: First, the Darnold 2, a third, etc.

Wow. I was wrong. That’s actually not terrible depending on which 1st round pick you’re talking about in ‘22.

I think this years 1.02, 1.23, 3.30 (the JA pick), and a conditional 2 next year that can become 1 given playing time and playoffs would be my limit. I think it would get it done too.

Any QB we add in a year or two more is going to a team with a lot less holes than the jets have now and that usually means success.

The thing is with all our draft assets and with the money we have for FAs the thinking better not be that we wont need a QB for the next years.

but will Houston finally give in & trade him...

If Houston trades Deshaun to the Jets prior to the 2021 draft, they get Zack Wilson and two more firsts, and change.

If Houston is dicks and waits until after the draft, Douglas will actually be in a stronger position to make an offer because he’s going to trade out of the #2 and will be sitting on a pile of 2022 and 2023 draft picks as a result. Either way, all roads lead through Douglas, as long as Watson holds firm on leaving Houston.
