Couldn’t possibly be two guys named David Clowney now could there.

There could be but this is the same guy.

David Clowney was another Jets legend amongst fans who thought he was some kind of undiscovered secret weapon that should see the field a whole lot more.  Had a bit of a cult following like Brooks Bollinger if I remember right.

I think it was between Danny Woodcock and Joe McKnight - RIP.

I think it came down to keeping 2 out of the 3.

McKnight had the advantage, as a rookie draft pick - even though he had a terrible camp.

It came down to Clooney v Woodhead for the last spot. Jets preferred to keep an extra WR, but clearly liked Woodhead. They tried converting him to WR, but obviously that wasn't his natural position.

In end, the Jets kept Clowney as the final WR over Woodhead.

Bollinger had a cult of one. You’re thinking of Simms maybe?

Never saw an official announcement about this, but if you look at the coaching roster on the Jets website, he's listed as a coaching fellow. Brett Ratliff next as assistant QB coach maybe?

DW tweeted that Clowney should be a coach.
