This guy Joe Rivera from top to bottom is exactly how I feel....

  • I loved Sam, even going into this year but he was just awful this year.  He got worse.  The dumb throws just never stopped.
  • No way Douglas will go into this year with Sam.  Just makes zero sense.  It's such an unnecessary and outsized risk for him to take.
  • Let someone else try and revive his career.  Maybe they can, maybe they can't.  But it shouldn't be our problem
  • I'm a big Wilson fan, but would be fine with Fields

Those were points that I agree with 100%....

Couldn’t agree more

The equivocation among these idiot reporters is amusing to say the least.

We should enjoy watching/listening to these NFL reporters run around like Keystone Kops.  It's nothing more than a bunch of subjective, baseless predictions and they change their minds for no reason.  If JD wakes up on the left side of the bed, he'll trade Darnold... if he wakes up on the right side, Darnold will be the guy.

Agreed, not only do they run around like idiots, there is little to absolute NO accountability when they are wrong. They can botch a story and it gets lost in the news cycle instantly

You know, I was honestly thinking the same thing. This guy’s good.

It's no "symbolic penis," but Martha Stout, who writes on sociopathy, talks about how "the most reliable sign, the most universal behavior of unscrupulous people is not directed, as one might imagine, at our fearfulness. It is, perversely, an appeal to our sympathy."

If you can’t get a 1 for Sam , hold him.  This is assuming Watson is not an option.  Nobody knows if any of these rookies will be the next Nathan Peterman

Sam Darnold 13-25 Win-Loss record TD's 45 INT's 39

As a starting QB I think we already know what he is.

In this scenario we keep 2.

We're swapping 12 for 23.

49ers get Sam and #23

Jets gets 2022 2nd and #12

Not a bad trade.

Trade values Darnold around a late first round pick. It's not awful. Could very much see SF wanting to do something like that. Would be great if the Jets could push for their 2021 second round pick instead.

The one downside is that pick 12 is kind of no man's land in this draft. It would be fascinating if they moved down, took a pass catcher or Sewell, and then grabbed a QB at 12.

Amazing how well this "I'm the victim" thing works.

NPD behavior for an audience full of psychoses. All they see is their own flaws reflected back and it sets the premise that if he’s okay, they’re okay,

Or something like that.

I have not posted much in a decade. Posted a nice amount before that on JI which was a similar place to this. There was a draft forum on that site which had much of the intellectual conversations football junkies crave. That was around the time of the Brick/Leinart/Reggie Bush draft which was similar to this. Multiple high draft picks/cap space/fresh start. Just a great time to talk about football. Many of those posters then are on this very board and provide excellent insight. The type of guys even if you disagree with provide a really good convo about football. Jason from OTC was just a casual poster then and we debated contracts all the time.

There are some great convo's to be had on these MB's. However no matter where you go there are going to be Flamers that fully get off on messing with others. You make a serious post. They post a reply baiting you into some personal argument or baiting some emotional rise out of you. When you take that bait it totally makes their day. They fully get off on that.

Your post @football guy are crazy insightful. The Dline post was awesome. They are better than many actual articles or anything the Jets guys on Twitter/Youtube do(I do like @bla bla bla ).  @Mogglez is good too. Love your content even if I disagree. But man both of you guys take that Bait like every-time hook line and sinker. You're both super easy targets for those that get off on that kind of stuff. Watching you guys post is like watching Robb Stark walking into the Red Wedding.

These sites are great bc like that single serving person you'll meet randomly and have a good convo then never see again you could do that here. As you mentioned it could be often, random or never. I have not posted in years before this last month or so. For you perhaps it's in between some law case as you get older. For me perhaps it's in between surgeries.

The trick to satisfying that craving of having an intellectual football convo regardless of how often you post is NOT taking that bait. Perhaps you need to block posters. Put guys on ignore so you don't even see their post. For me the easiest way is only responding to people that want to have a good football debate regardless of if they agree or disagree with me. You just have to find what works for you.

Responding to every unhappy 40 year old guy in their Mom's basement that baits you is just not the way. You're not changing them - They get off on you responding to them. More importantly those flame convo's are just a huge waste of time in life and are not going to satisfy any of the good football talk your craving. There's a-lot of really smart guys here that want to talk football without the BS. Just respond to them whenever you're in the mood wether thats often or not. Just avoid taking the Bait from the others. This is the way.

Great post, Shockwave.  This place does not need to lose good posters

Better yet, he should try to be a more consistently good poster. Meaning... more football, less virtue signaling and troll bickering. He’s not exactly a victim here.

I was in my teens back then and literally believed every word he said.

That draft made me fall in love with the draft in general. The offseason started with Texas/USC and Vince Young playing like a damn superhuman.

Then look at these players. What an amazing draft. I remember watching the combine and thought every year there would be athletes like Mario Williams, Vernon Davis and Ngata. Really fun draft.

Same, dude. Except I wasn’t a teen. It was definitely my gateway drug to message boards and the draft.

Niners don’t currently have a 3rd in this draft.  It would have to be one of their minority coach comps.  That would be crazy to get the Saleh pick.

If Darnold is traded, it's most likely to be heavier on 2022 pick value. A 2021 third- plus a conditional 2022 second- is not out of the question.

Some smoke of a rumored Darnold trade, supposedly for a 2nd and 3rd to the 49ers

IF TRUE then here's the key question I have about something like this - What does Kyle Shanahan see in Sam Darnold that we don't?

Why does he think Sam Darnold is the upgrade over Garrapolo that gets his supposed Super Bowl contending team to the next level?

And why wouldn't our new coaches from SF including LaFleur see that same potential?

Darnold had a terrible season.

And I'm aware there isn't much of a precedent for players turning it around three years in.

But I mean, he's younger than Joe Burrow. We've also asked this kid to overcome a truly terrible situation.

I agree with what you said - if Shanahan thinkts he's redeemable than I'd be surprised if LaFleur doesn't.

Imo guys its simple, who’s the cheapest out of the available options? Imo it’s really that simple and I don’t really read much into any team for that matter that’s willing to kick the tires on Sam. SF isn’t the only team to inquire about Darnold, this is purely supply in demand

I highly doubt any nfl GM or coach think they can “save” this, I think the teams inquiring hope they can develop Darnold into a decent game manager (especially SF)

Nearly everything at this point of the year is rumor, speculation or possibly disinformation.

At this point it's all up to personal preference and personal bias:

  • You get those who are using The Secret to will a Deshaun trade into existence
  • You've got the cult of Latter Day Wilsons arguing that Zack Attack is better than Trevor Lawrence
  • You've got those that are "Justin Fields is criminally underrated. Don't watch the Indiana, Northwestern or Alabama games, though. Those are fake news."
  • And finally, of course, the Darnold Truthers. That small paradoxical segment of Jets fandom; simultaneously delusional yet utterly clear-eyed rationalists with a mantra of... "Often times when playing quarterback, when your team sucks, you will suck"

I can't wait for something to actually happen, because right now you can take that unsubstantiated 'Kyle Shanahan is interested in trading for Sam Darnold' rumor and fit it into any of the above narratives.

I know I'm guilty of it.

Todd Mcshay said a future first and a third this year

The rumors I've heard is that any potential Darnold trade would come with conditions, and no team would be willing to give up a first-rounder straight up. I haven't seen what McShay has said, but people close to the Panthers expect that if the Jets were to entertain offers, most of the offers would contain a conditional second- that can become a first-round pick is that a team can intertwine conditions such as playing-time and playoffs to avoid giving too high of a first. The question becomes whether the Jets deem that as enough

This might be disappointing to fans, but the endings of the show are usually faked and scripted for the camera. The producers have everyone film two different endings: one where the couple chooses to “love” their home, and another where they decide to “list” it.

Then, during the post-production and editing process, the producers decide which ending works best for the episode. Which one will be more satisfying and entertaining for viewers? So, if a couple decides to love or list their home on the show, it might not actually be true.

Bastards!
