JJ Watt Released

Good point. Him and Rodgers. Although GB doesn’t usually sign aging stars.

And they honestly don't really need him. They could move some pieces around but the secondary is a far bigger need IMO. I'd think Chicago makes a lot of sense.

In any case if Pitt does sign him, Bud Dupree is def in play at that point.

Couple of things:

With all his injuries, I'd only want him at a bargain deal.

He's not going to want to take a bargain deal to go to a rebuilding team.

He may take a bargain deal to play with his brother or go to a contender.

This is not an expiring contract, it's a release, so he is free to sign with anyone at anytime.  He doesn't have to wait until FA starts.

Wow I didn’t realize that. That could hinder Houston’s desire to trade with Jets to a degree. I just don’t see any team in the NFC coming up with better trade offer than Jets. Jags out for being in same division

If Watson doesn’t end up here, that won’t be the reason why

Goodbye Watt.
Truly the greatest Texan in franchise history.
Time to chase a ring elsewhere, and time for a blank canvas in Houston.

It is time for a complete overhaul, and that includes the unhappy Watson.

We knew Watt was leaving. If any player deserved the chance to just be released so he can choose where he wants to go, it was him. The reality of it along with the mess of these last few months amplifies our frustrations and disgust with this franchise. It is going to very painful for awhile Houston. Strap up.

Another stupid Texans strategic blunder. We get NOTHING for HOFer Watt that still has at least a little time left in the league. We should've traded him about 3 years ago when he had a much higher value - like a 1st or at worst 2nd rounder. Aren't we supposed to be "Patriots South" - that's what Belichick would have done. They waited sooo long to do anything with him that teams called their bluff on giving anything because they HAD to either trade or cut him with their cap and overall team situation. This is exactly why we will never win a Super Bowl. GD its hard to be a fan of this team.

The Houston Texans organization could actually be worse than the NY Jets organization.

They have made the playoffs 6 times in the last 10 years, won the division 6 times, and won 4 playoff games in the same period.  This idea the Texans are the Detroit Lions or the Jets is a complete media creation to cap for Watson and because they hate the owner.  It sounds like there's some weird sh*t going on there no doubt but trying to re-write history to fit your narrative is mental.

Bring in Watt like we did Kris Jenkins, could have the same impact!  Also if we do, the hope is he lasts longer on the field than Kris

Watt will be 32 in March we got Jenkins at 29 and got 1 full season. This team needs young players not old dinosaurs..:wheelchair:

Historically, yes, the Texans are superior.  But remember, the younger McNair has only owned the team for a short time since the death of his father late in 2018.  Since that time, Cal McNair has seemingly done everything in his power to run the organization into the ground.  Granted, Bob McNair was no great shakes as an owner, and did a lot to piss off his players.  But Cal is next level in ineptitude and has put his trust in a known con man to run the show.

Meanwhile, the Jets have some respectability in the front office for the first time in decades, and the Johnson's, at least initially, seem to be letting Douglas call the shots.

It's too early to say that things have really changed here, and the Johnson's can do a lot of potential damage if/when they try to meddle.  But still.  A lot has changed in a short time for both organizations, with the respective situations heading in opposite directions.

So even after freeing up this space, the Texans go from $13.4M over the projected cap to just $4.1M under.  They have needs everywhere, the QB wants out, and they don't currently have a 1st round pick in 2021.

Yikes.  What a mess.

Nor a 2nd. First pick early 3rd

The media have been trashing the Texans and O'Brien since McNair said "you can't let the prisoners run the prison" like 7 years ago.  That's what this is all really about the media has been waiting to pounce for years and then all the dummies repeat the same things as if their facts.  The mistake that was made was giving O'Brien GM duties that destroyed the franchise similar to us letting Rex Ryan do anything besides coach defense.

BS!!!!

they didn’t want the backlash of having no problems trading a white player and keeping a black player held hostage.

Deshaun to the Jets is looking more likely everyday imo ?‍♂️

Whut...

Cant tell if you're being for real with this or not. The two players' situations are so cosmically different it's not funny and the race card is the conclusion you end up drawing?

And it's worth mentioning, I ALWAYS thought the Jets were the biggest train wreck of an organization. Well, the Texans have officially made the Jets their BITCH when it comes to dysfunction. It's actually quite nice to know from the standpoint of a Jets fan? Not that means we'll improve our win total.....
