I trust Robert Saleh to make the final decision.

Not yet after only 1 season with  no real camp and off-season workout regimen to speak of. Time will tell.

Any posters able to show how Bryce Huff fits in the new Jets defensive scheme. Is Bryce a better fit in the new scheme compared to Greg William's scheme.

6'3 255, had 2 sacks in I assume limited actions. Is he a potential Shaq Barrett was also an UDFA.

I can see him fitting in as a rotational/backup LEO. But I think Saleh will look for someone in the draft and/or a vet he is more familiar with to pluck out of FA- Blair or Dee Ford come to mind.

Huff has a decent frame to be a 4-3 DE (6-3 255) and he showed his
versatility last year when he played OLB.  He was a UDFA with no
off-season program and no pre-season games yet he was able to play
14 games and get 2 Sacks and 4 TFL.  He won't be promised anything
but I would expect him to get a legitimate shot at the DE spot.
The fact that Douglas and his staff signed him works in his favor

He was actually pretty productive coming from a small school and his pressure numbers were actually stronger than the sack total suggests.

Same with Frankie Luvu....he played very well the last 5-6 games.

What did he play with real playing time?

We won’t know what he is or isn’t at this point.

I would agree except for how crowded the D-line is. Even if we assume the Jets cut Anderson, you would imagine they do everything they can to bring back JFM at a reasonable price to start at strong side DE. Then you have Kyle Phillips. You also have Shepherd as a rotational DT.  What the Jets don't have is that LEO weak side Pass Rush specialist who could also move to OLB depending on the formation. Basham could fill that role but I think they will let him walk due to lack of production. Zuniga could fill that role but he seems to be more if an inside rusher. And then there's Huff. And this is without including any potential FAs or rookies the Jets draft to specifically fit the scheme. So honestly I think it's too early to tell if Huff will get any legit shot to start at DE. I mean, he could be buried by the time we hit camp and preseason. It's really murky right now. There is SO MUCH depth on the D-line and with the Jets new coaching staff potentially changing to a 4-3, you know they will be adding even more players to figure out what works best.

IDK, his production, and time on the field really dropped off the last 5 games of the year.  He wasn't real productive when he was getting 30-60% of the snaps.  PFR gave him a 1 in AV which is very bad.  PFF gave him a 58 which isn't so good either.  Perhaps it was Williams D, but I really don't see much here.  He'll more then likely get another year to show what he's got.

Remember more then likely the Jets won't be playing a traditional 4-3,  one of the the DE's will  often be standing up as the "elephant" DE.  Could thrive in that.  I'm sure he'll get a chance.  Not putting him down, Huff was one of the players I was excited the Jets signed.

At this point the DLine will be an interesting fight for spots with:

Quinnen Williams
Foley Fatukasi
John Franklin-Myers
Nathan Shepherd
Jabari Zuniga
Kyle Phillips
Bryce Huff

And then you figure through free agency and the draft we'll add at
least 2 more to the mix.  But considering the fact that we haven't
had a legit pass rush in 10+ years I say the more the merrier.  Only
Williams has shown the ability to get to the QB so far and who knows
how many Saleh will want to keep

We're getting close to the point where I think one (or maybe even two) of the guys I bolded may end up departing.  I like them all, especially Foley and JFM, but there's a numbers game that's going to start playing out soon with the new coaching regime and I have to think the true LEO position that Saleh desires isn't yet on the roster.  There's a DE/Edge rusher coming to this team either thru FA or the Draft who I think the Jets want to have on the field at least 75% of the time.

IMO there is no way Fo Fat is cut.  He is one of the best DL in the league against the run.  PFF had him graded at 80.1 overall.  As a bench mark Q. Williams was 81.4 overall.

Who knows but this is really not how I see it. I think the Jets will really try to bring back JFM unless the price is absurd. I think he's a really nice fit as a strong side DE and they can pretty much pencil him in for that position as a starter. Same with Foley Fat. He fits nicely at the NT next to Q. They really have a solid trio that fit the 4-3 scheme if they bring back JFM. They have a NT, DT and Strong side DE who can all rush the passer and stuff the run while fulfilling their roles within the system.

To me, the LEO position is the only one that is still a bit of a mystery. So any of those other guys- Zuniga, Phillips, Huff, may end up being on the chopping block if the jets bring in someone through FA or the draft that fits that role better. You would think Zuniga isn't cut simply because he was a 3rd round pick last year but he could be traded or buried on the depth chart, same thing for Huff (or he may find himself on the PS- I believe he is eligible).  Nathan Shepherd is simply expendable because he is a rotational DT. But that doesn't mean he won't end up being an impact player next year. I don't think JD will trade him just for the sake of getting a draft pick. And unless his play completely falls off a cliff he wont get cut. Shepherd adds value as depth.

QW, Foley, and JFM should stay for sure.  But what about the rest?  Kyle Phillips has looked good as well.  Nathan Shephard looks like a guy that on many Jets teams of the past 20 years would be a decent rotational guy.  What about Zuniga as a down DE?

All of these guys need to be evaluated in the context of two things:  1) The new system and coaching staff and 2) New personnel who will likely be added via FA and/or the Draft.

We won't have 9 or 10 DLinemen, that's for sure.

Shephard could be in jeopardy.  Think Phillips gets another look at.

In all honesty the DL line is one of the few units that looks pretty good to go.  Need an ER, the "elephant" in this D.  Besides that I don't see the Jets adding to many DL unless somebody Douglas likes falls.
