Being a perennial contender requires a team to one day pay a QB a sh*t ton of money.  Period.

I mean, I don't think it's too far-fetched to think that a franchise that hasn't drafted a good QB in 50 years is suddenly going on a tear that allows them to draft a new franchise QB every 4-5 years so that they never have to pay a QB more than the rookie contract window.
