They wont have any leverage in negotiations since they'll basically need to trade darnold at that point. Second, its been reported that a team that called about darnold got the strong impression that he wont be dealt. The trade would happen before the Jets draft at #2. It's not like there's any risk on the Jets' end in that regard. And I pay no heed to any reports, rumors or rumblings at this point of the year. It's not called the 'lying season' for nothing. As to whether a team would pay a 1st rounder. Like I said, if the alternative is going into the season with Nick Foles and/or Marcus Mariota (see the Bears), they may decide to get a little frisky. What if you trade Darnold and draft Wilson and then Wilson sucks?? Meanwhile Darnold lights it up and leads his new team to the championships?? Hiw do you explain to ownership that you traded your FQB, wasted the #2 pick on a bust and sent the team back a couple more years??

Connor Rogers is a guy I like and he has Wilson as QB2. He also has said that this draft has superstar potential for up to 4 QBs. He is high on Lawrence, Wilson, Fields and Lance. Lawrence is most likely going to Jacksonville, so that gives the choice of fields or Wilson. I’m still torn on the 2, I honestly can’t make my mind up. We know what he says, but that means very little. We'll know a lot more soon. I would still be shocked if they kept Darnold, but I've been wrong before. TheMo
11 hours ago, JTJet said: You watched JUST the pass plays... and you're telling ME that I am not looking at the whole picture. Not sure if you're being serious or not here. Everything I mentioned matters in an evaluation of a successful player, especially a QB. I flat out said he had a mediocre game, it's the intangible aspects that you need to watch happen and take the whole thing into context along with the play. That is something you have not done since you quickly YouTubed just his passing plays. When evaluating a QBs play against another team should I be looking at his defense and his handoffs? I’m actually asking you seriously what else you would look at in evaluating his play in a singular game other than the snaps where he passed and or ran the ball himself. The other stuff is a lot less relevant in my opinion. Fields can’t control what the big ten does with its conference play. Despite his less than ideal schedule he played tougher defense albeit with better skill players. Nonetheless his physical attributes have to be up to par to compete in a bigger conference so that is a plus. I never really got a chance to mention this cause we got into debating fields v Wilson, but the original post is ridiculous. Zach Wilson is in no way a bum. I just think fields is definitively a better prospect coming out. He’s the guy I take a chance on if I can’t get my top two. He had a great year and definitely shows some potential.

THE BARON
18 hours ago, JTJet said: If that's how it actually went down, it would have been a much bigger story than you claim, no matter how much the NFL tried to keep it quiet. Its 2021 and you think some rando twitter or insider had a scoop of that magnitude and nobody else ran with it? Give me 3 verified sources that supported that conspiracy theory and I will change my mind. I got it from an individual that has been around the game for 50+ years. This person was a div 1 college assistant coach and knows a lot of people around the game including former coaches and assistant coaches of the Jets. NO WAY can I list his name in a public forum. The Jets did not start the 2020 season with any intention of taking. That plan came to life around game 5 when a lot of the player sell-offs took place. Trevor Lawrence was not even a consideration until then. It went from being a possibility to a very attractive and attainable goal. A goal that that was adopted at the very top and went down to include the GM, HC and DC. Though in the case of HC and DC, it was under protest. The players were not asked to play below their best at any time, but EVERYONE on the roster knew what was going on. After the Raiders game, the league was tipped off by a disgruntled Jet insider. The Jets brass was warned by the league office that any tangible proof of throwing the season from a connected source could and would result in a scandal and forfeiture of that coveted draft choice they were scheming for. The league management itself was not partial to any of this, but there was pressure being put on the league suits by several NFL owners that din't want the Jets and Johnson to walk off with Trevor Lawrence, the best QB prospect since Peyton Manning or perhaps ever. And then, the winning started. That's how the Jets lost control of their position to draft first overall.
JTJet
9 minutes ago, THE BARON said: After the Raiders game, the league was tipped off by a disgruntled Jet insider. The story falls apart right here. This comes from the notion that the Jets were intentionally trying to tank the Raiders game, the game they were set to win until the last 5 seconds, except for a 50 yard miracle TD. If a team is attempting to tank even without the players being told, they arent setting it up and waiting until 5 seconds left, then hoping a mediocre QB makes a fantastic throw and a mediocre WR makes a fantastic catch. The probability of that is insane. Again, if ANY verified people ANYWHERE talked about this conspiracy theory, I might believe you. This is simply nonsense. Not to mention the chain of events that would follow, so the conversation would go... League - "Hey you guys are intentionally losing, stop it" Jets - "Yep, you caught us, sorry" League - "You better win some games now as punishment, oh and your next 3 games are against playoff teams" Jets- "We're led by Adam Gase, we can go 2-1 against three playoff teams, no sweat" Occams razor man. The Jets just had two good weeks while the Rams/Browns didnt. That simple.

High school injury for which he played D1 college football as a starting QB his freshman year (and didn’t miss a game). And at the end of the season he decided to have the surgery as he thought it was best for his long term career. He didn’t miss a game due to it or even camp the next year.
