Besides the point.

Lets see....

Joined JN on Tuesday of this week it seems.  Already has almost 100 posts and acts like he knows folks already.

So, either an old poster coming back under a new name (a definite possibility), or maybe a BYU Fan joining JN because he thinks Wilson is gonna end up here (we get those every cycle we're poised to draft a QB, I still recall the assortment of USC Darnold Fan Posters when they joined up, lol).

Almost every post (and 95 in four days is alot for a newbie) so far, strident promotion or defense of Wilson.

I'm going to guess BYU/Wilson Fan, and not an actual Jets Fan.

I thought the Jets were going to trade out of two, now I’m sure they are drafting a QB. Most likely Wilson, though I don’t totally rule out Fields.

No way they are bringing Darnold back after the GM publicly acknowledges they would entertain trade offers.

Its still a bad look to knock someone for what they look like.

This will be a heavy offense Draft early on.  Could see 17, 18, 19 offensive players taken in Round 1.

Deepest positions in the Draft seem to be WR, CB, OLine.

Edge rushers are plentiful but not dynamite guys.  There's no Nick Bosa or Chase Young in this Draft.  Scouting will be really, really important at the Edge IMO.  Lots of 2nd, 3rd round type guys who can rush the passer pretty well.... picking the guy who will take a leap when he enters the NFL will be the challenge at that position IMO.

Okay, so the jets take Wilson and the niners take Jones.  Since both teams are running the shanahan system why wouldn’t Douglas trade back from Wilson to select Jones?  Wilson is more mobile but how much of that is because he’s playing behind a worse oline.

Well, let’s reverse that. If SF was picking at 2, do you actually think they’d pick Jones or Wilson.?

my opinion, not in a million years.

Or maybe a double standard hangup? A fairness hangup? A unity hangup?

Perhaps something better suited to a Political Discussion forum, eh?

Especially since @Maxman, the site's owner, has a strict "No Politics" rule here at JN.

I'm sure he has a no racism/homophobia/transphobia policy as well, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone from talking about his face color, his hair color, his race, his money, his background, his "girlish" body, his "girlish" face, his religion, how spoiled he is, how privileged he is...

I doubt these are the kinds of things @Maxman wants his site to be about yet here we are. God forbid someone points them out.

You're wrong, absolutely wrong. You don't have a leg to stand on. I would think we'd have more elevated discussions here than "he's a cweep" "he's a girl" but I guess not?

The volume and depth of your responses tells me you know what I said was true, which is why you felt the need to bring the owner of the site into this as if he doesn't have other things to do.

If it offended you, I apologize.

I’m thinking not but if they going to go first round on a QB then it has to be a guy that fits their system.  And it also seems like they may start the guy over garapollo.

since he's rich and white, it's alright.

Is that true?  Not the white part, the rich part.  If so, I am VERY wary of him.  Rich kids have it all.  There is no incentive to go full on Brady.  You know, eat like a rabbit, treat your body like a temple and devote half of every single day to working out.  Johnny Manziel was rich.  Still is too.  Always will be rich.

@Warfish is totally right here.

And the Jets have Darnold under control contractually as well. In the absence of a big multi-year contract extension, if they really wanted to do so they could exercise his 5th year option and then franchise tag him a year after that (and again the year after that). More than an ample window if he was the goods, and frankly it’s a good amount less than letting this season play out as-is and then making some $35MM/year extension offer.

Never mind how ridiculous it is that - in a draft with only one purported “sure thing” QB that the draft will naturally go QB-QB at 1-2, then someone will trade up for a QB at #3, then another team will trade up for a QB at #4. Plus another a handful of picks later.

5 QBs drafted in the top 9 selections, including each of the top 4 selections, with 3 of them resulting from teams paying heavily to trade up for the opportunity as though 2021 is the last time any team will ever have to draft a QB before the big asteroid hits earth.

That’s not even realistic enough to use in a phony Draft Day movie. The asteroid part alone makes for a more realistic-feeling screenplay.

Cmon Sperm-you are an intelligent poster. Do you really believe what you are typing here?

The Jets are not going to exercise his 5th year option which would be close to $20MM and if they franchised him it would be north of $30MM in 2021.

Tua is cheap for another three seasons. Darnold likely won’t be under contract beyond 2021. I am ignoring the fact that Tua as only one NFL season and is coming off a major injury. It’s a completely different situation than Darnold who has failed three consecutive seasons.

If I had to bet money on an outcome the Jets are sending serious wilson smoke hoping to get multiple picks from the trade down. They might end up with fields, Sewell, or even Pitts/Slater but not at 2

There's alot of wr talk, but looking at the late Rd types that they have met with so far, a day 1 wr pick would be a surprise

Not really.  I think the Jets need to take two wideouts.  One of them must start too.  Unless we land one of the expensive free agents which I believe is unlikely (not unwelcome).

Tua is a stiff and the Dolphins know it.

He is rich. He does not conduct his life like he is, however. Here, this will make you feel better:

ESPN’s Todd McShay is out with his latest mock draft. With their two first round picks, McShay has the Jets upgrading the two most important positions on the field.

BYU quarterback Zach Wilson is the pick at second overall.

2. New York Jets

Zach Wilson, QB, BYU

The logic here stands from my last mock draft: I expect Wilson to be the No. 2 overall pick, whether or not it is the Jets making it. Projecting this pick isn’t necessarily suggesting they should or will move on from Sam Darnold, but if they do, Wilson is the obvious next move. If they don’t, watch for a QB-needy team to trade up to take him here. Wilson is creative and can extend plays, he can hit the deep ball and his toughness in the pocket stands out.

With the pick that came from Seattle for Jamal Adams, McShay has the Jets finally investing at edge rusher.

23. New York Jets (via SEA)

Azeez Ojulari, OLB, Georgia

The Jets landed a quarterback at No. 2, so let’s pivot to defense here. They need someone who can get home on the QB besides Quinnen Williams, who led the team with seven sacks in 2020. Ojulari is a pass-rush specialist of sorts, showing good speed, bend and first-step quickness. As for the lack of playmakers on offense to support Wilson, keep an eye on free agency this month and then Day 2 at the draft, where numerous high-end receivers and running backs will be available.

Would you like these picks?

This is a silly point expressed in a silly way.

It’s actually a very pertinent point, made in a silly way. QB highlights for a guy built like my daughter shouldn’t start with a scramble.

Its like a Hackenbeeg highlight reel that begins with him tapping the sides of his helmet like Tom Brady.

sh*t don’t translate.

The first gameplay highlight was a QB scramble. One that would leave him dead on the field if a real XFL playa hit him.

My favorite part was when the father goes, “do you remember your first game?” and Zack goes “No. Please dad, this is a puff piece for the school-sanctioned fluffer AV department. Please don’t embarrass me here. Please wait until they leave” and the father was like “You were eight years old and...”

”Dad, please”

”You threw a pick six and I screamed at you for days and you know why?”

”Dad.”

”The boy JOGGED into the end zone”

And then it cuts away to the dad saying he “coached” all of his boys “the same way” instead of using the more common verb “parented.”

1) Your daughter must be an animal

2) It's not a highlight reel, it's a fluff piece, admittedly

3) The point of me responding to another poster was the character concerns

4) The reason they use that clip was because it was a big comeback win against one of the storied programs in college football
