That makes no sense.

Salary cap in 2006. Save $3M by cutting him, millions more by restructuring. Also theoretically allows us more freedom in the draft & FA.

No salary cap in 2007. Cut him then & there is no cap penalty at all.

It's best for the team this year. It may be as simple as Woody saying "I already wasted $22M of my inheritance on that f'er over the last 2 years. He ain't getting more."

Yes she is. Oh, so hot.

Oh yeah, uh..too bad about Chad.

lol. I couldn't resist throwing that in because she was on tv right after the report.

I don't understand why Mortensen would say that about chad, I didn't think the CBA had much of an effect on Chad.

If there's no salary cap then there's also no "slotted" salary for draft picks using the prev year + x% as a baseline. And then with talks of strikes & such...

So who's the luckiest guy in the world?

Alex Smith. No one wanted the #1 pick, but he got the #1 rookie $ of all time anyway. One year later & he'd have made $10-15M less in SB alone. Two years later & there's no slotted salaries & maybe he gets $15-20M less. Who has less leverage than a broke college student who's forbidden from working elsewhere at the one job that pays him above $6/hr?
