Nixhead
Giants released him today. He's better than any of our current guards - a top half guard. He's 31. Wouldn't cost a fortune? 2
Integrity28
Hmm. Cap move or performance? Are they going to contend for Thuney.

JetPotato
Exactly the kind of guy you don't sign in free agency. 31, decent but not great player, will cost way more than he will perform over the contract.

But this is the kind of guy that won’t get signed in 1st tier of free agency and if you can get him after some teams have spent most of their money you can get a bargain. 1
Milo1735
Obviously depends on the cost. I’m sure JD will determine a value for him and if he can get him for his price, he will. I think at the right price, he’s a good signing. Solid vet that won’t hurt you and be a bridge to Clark or day 3 picks from this year. Maxman
Yeah he is a guy that If he was out there, and the market didn't happen for him, I would consider. But more of a plan c kind of thing. Because hopefully by that point in time the Jets have upgraded and are set at guard.
Wit
Most players will sign one year type deals with the rumors of a new TV deal coming and the cap going way up.
Nixhead
Jets can sign this guy before free agency starts right? Zeitler is a very good player. If Jets can lock this guy up quickly for 7-8 mil they would have a nice jump on free agency.

You think so? I was thinking he might get below his performance because he's 31 and with the cap ceiling some $25MM less than it would've been without covid. Wouldn't be my top choice out of the gate, but then neither is Lewis or GVR either. I'd see what his top offer is before already saying no. If he's $10MM or under, I don't know that he requires 2 fully guaranteed seasons, and he's worth $10MM more than Lewis is/was worth $7MM ffs. I'd ultimately prefer them to find a guard solution through the draft, but it'd also be nice if these draft picks could beat out someone decent instead of being handed the job just for beating out GVR.

Grab a G in the draft with a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Well in no universe would he get more than 2 years guaranteed anyway, if he gets even that, so it really doesn't matter if his contract is 5 years long. At his age he might be in a position where he has to choose guaranteed money or upside money. e.g. $12MM/year but only 1 year guaranteed, vs $10MM/year with 2 years guaranteed. Or whatever the actual numbers come to, that same concept. If he has an outstanding 2021 he'll make more on the 1-yr guaranteed deal, but... Something else to consider is that he might be more likely to play out a full 3 years at a couple million lower rate, where a higher amount may get him more in year 1 but each year he'll be evaluated with much higher scrutiny and will always be in danger of being a cap casualty.

Heck you could sign him and one of the elite OL.
